Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Iman Shumpert has agreed to a four-year, $40M contract to remain with the Cavaliers, league source tells Yahoo.

A bit nuts if you ask me, but maybe they had to?

They need decent bench help and don't have much cap space to get anyone else I guess. Shumpert is a good wing defender, very useful off the bench for a contender. He's also basically an Avery Bradley clone, and making almost identical money.

LeBron the GM.  Playing with guys he likes is more important than anything else.  And he wants his friends to get PAID.

$10 million in $108mil cap is equivalent to $5.8 million under $63 million cap.

$5.8 million is a very good price for Shumpert who I think is an under-rated two guard. An excellent defensive player. An above average rebounder. Streaky offensively but capable transition scorer, outside shooter, cutter, secondary ball-handler and passer.

$10mil a year for Shumpert is absurd. I get why Gilbert is doing what he's doing.... But man is that tax bill gonna hurt when they take 2nd place again.

It's not at all absurd, it's market value. Bradley is identical to Shumpert and makes 9 million a year.

Money is getting thrown out there today :o! Can't believe that players who wouldn't even get 4 million 5 years ago are scoring such big contracts at the moment :-X
