Hawks lose DeMarre Carroll to the Toronto Raptors, I'm told, on a four-year, $60-Million deal. DeMarre himself announced via Twitter.

Reminiscent as to when Ujiri signed Iggy with Denver.

I see Carroll as having many similarities as a player and in terms of effect on the team. I think Carroll is an excellent SF to put alongside DeRozan (SG) and Lowry (PG). That SF position has been a big problem for Toronto over last two seasons. Carroll fixes that problem.

I was hoping that the Raptors would rebuild, but now it looks like they are just adding.

If the C's had paid Carroll 4/60 I would have been happy.

Can people look to see if there is already a thread about something before they start a new one? Every piece of news that comes out is accompanied by two threads. Can the mods merge this one and the other DeMarre thread?

Okay so $15 million in $108 million cap is equivalent to $8.7 million in $63 million cap.

Wow, that is a really good deal.

Wow, what a bad start for the Hawks losing both Carroll and maybe Millsap :o!
Hate how all the other teams are closing deals while C's are so passive...
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Yeah, but on the bright side , this increases the difficulty for the Nets and celtics to make the playoffs. The east is getting tougher quickly, especially if Monta Ellis goes to Indiana and the Knicks land a good free agent.

Hawks add Splitter though. Will be interesting to see what happens next for them.

Horford will finally play his natural position (4).

Toronto still need to fix their big man rotation.

Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas are a good combination in terms of defense & rebounding but they lack offensive integrity. They need to replace one of them with a more skilled big man. Presumably Amir since he is older and a free agent.

I don't see how they manage to pull that off though. Running out of cap space. Not enough left to make another major addition this summer in FA. Next year, I suppose.

I think they should be exploring trade opportunities with Jonas Valanciunas. Not wild about how he has developed. Seems to have gone the other way from a defender/rebounder to a primarily offensive orientated player. Lost a fair bit of mobility since adding the weight he needed to gain to play against post players in the NBA.
