AB at 8m is terrible or get rid of him for anything. Danny Green at 11m is a steal or great deal. DG is in the optimal position to display his talents and mask weaknesses, AB On the other hand is in a role he clearly should have never been in but somehow he is trashed daily. If AB was on the Spurs, I have a feeling everybody and their mother would want him, he could spend time just defending and shooting like Green does and not worrying about over extending himself on D which gives him a chance to be even better/have more energy.

This is just another reminder of how our guys are never good enough and everyone else is so much better.  ::)
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

So...with Kawhi's max contract and Green's deal (along w/ Parker and Duncan and Manu), somebody explain to me how the heck the Spurs can still sign LA.

Good for the Spurs, and good for Danny Green.  Was worried he'd sign elsewhere and end up averaging 8 points per game on sub-40% shooting.

Looks like the Spurs are on track to get Aldridge.

If true what does that do for their chances at LMA. Please don't end up in NY or LA Lamarcus.
it just means that they'll have to deal Splitter

It's questionable how true this is.  Not including Leonard and Green, currently the Spurs have $35 million committed to 6 players. But they're keeping Leonard and Green, so we need to include their cap holds (as both are for less than the first year of their new contracts). That now moves the Spurs to $49.8 million.  Adding Aldridge at the max already takes them over the cap, because of cap holds for empty roster spots, even if we assume Duncan and Manu are gone (and also Cody Joseph, to whom the Spirs also extended a qualifying offer and thus has his own $5 million cap hold).  So if they trade Splitter and give Aldridge the max, they have about $7 million to give Duncan and Manu, assuming they rescind Joseph's qualifying offer.  That would be a huge paycut for both Duncan and Manu.  Maybe they're up for playing at less than the MLE, but more likely they need to trade a lot more than Splitter and/or get LMA to not take the max.

That gives them enough room to sign another max contract player? That seems crazy. Duncan and Parker already make big money, Manu isn't cheap, and Kawhi's got a max deal. I don't see how they could possibly add LA.

TP!!
This was exactly what I was thinking ;D! I honestly believe that Avery would do better than Danny Green if he played on the Spurs instead of the Celtics ::)

It's been rumored that the Spurs would sign Manu under the room exception, while re-signing Duncan to a two-year contract that balloons in the second year with various options (player or team).

Spurs friends are thinking Manu signs for around $2.8 M, and Timmy signs for ~ 6 M with a buyout for his 2nd year worth ~4-5 M. So Tim would still earn 10 M but not count as much against the cap this coming year.

Yeah, otherwise known as the Antonio McDyess Special.

Spurs will do w/e they have to to keep their core and still add LMA. Anyone outside of that will be shipped off if need be. Man, they should kill it if they add LMA.
