Yeah, the Lakers would literally have to clear out everyone on their roster save for Kobe to fit both Aldridge and Jordan.

I mean, we're sitting on some pretty valuable trade exceptions over here. Would you help the Lakers clear that space if it netted us Randle or Russell for an exception and picks?

Of course! It obviously depends on the picks though.

I would take on Swaggy and give the Brooklyn picks to the Lakers if it meant getting Russell

They can't afford both of them. Can they?

Even just with Kobe and Russell on the roster, that is $30 million plus cap holds for 10 empty roster spots ... so say $35 million. Aldridge and D.Jordan are both past the 7+year max salary so they get the larger max salary. I don't think LAL can fit that in under the $68 million cap. Those two guys would have to take pay cuts ... right?

That's right.  It's lazy of Woj to not even mention the impracticality of the idea.

Maybe it's to be Interpretted they are targeting both and not looking to sign both?

No.  Other tweets indicated they're trying to move payroll.  They can sign one of them without trouble if they decline (or have already declined) Jordan Hill's option.

If they could make it happen I think that would easily be the ideal 4/5 combination in the NBA right now.

I saw this too, but would it really be worth it to have three max and nothing else? I mean i hope they do it, they'll screw themselves for the next 3 years. :D

And if can help by taking on Russel and Randle I'm all for it. I mean we need to add some guard and PF depth to this roster. :D

Looking at their current salary situation according to HoopsHype) from what I can see the Lakers have the following guaranteed for 2015/16:

Kobe - $25,000,000
Nick Young - $5,219,169
Julius Randle - $3,132,240
Ryan Kelly - $1,742,250
Tarik Black - $845,059
Jordan Clarkson - $845,059
D'Angelo Russell - $5,000,000 (est)

This puts them at around $41.77M in payroll for 2015/16.  Given that the cap has been confirmed at $67M, that would leave them with about $25.23M in available cap space, right?

If so, then a 7-9 Max FA would command around $16.75M, leaving the Lakers with about $8M in cap space after signing either Aldridge or DeAndre Jordan.

This gives them the following starting lineup:
DeAndre Jordan / LaMarcus Aldridge
Julius Randle
Nick Young
Jordan Clarkson
D'Angelo Russel

Plus a bench of:
Ryan Kelly - $1,742,250
Tarik Black - $845,059

With only $8M in cap space to add additional players to that roster.

Call me crazy, but that doesn't look like the type of team I'd want to join if I'm a 30 year old  LaMarcus Aldridge who wants to win now...that team (even with Aldridge and Kobe) doesn't look like it has much hope of making the playoffs.

Is this all correct or am I missing something?

I don't know...

Russel maybe, depending on what we would need to take on in return (in addition to him).

Randle no...really not interested in him at all.

They took Larry Nance Jr with the 27th pick so he's guaranteed about 1mil.  That puts them at 8 players and the minimum roster is 12.  So you have to add 4 place holders slots at the vet minimum which would put their payroll around 45mil.  So they can only afford 1 top free agent.  That's why the Russell and Randle for Cousins trade makes sense for them.  Giving Kobe that massive contract killed their cap space.

I believe the only way it's possible is if the Blazers or Clippers want to do a sign and trade.
