Comes up in every Biyombo thread...

7'7" wingspan and a 9'3" standing reach...

He's a freak:

Sorry LrdBrd, you beat me to it and I didn't scroll down and finish reading:-))

Charlotte did not extend him a qualifying offer, so he's unrestricted.  Could be a cheap option at center if nothing else works out.
This is awesome news.   I love Biyombo.  I would love to have him in Boston.

If we've learned anything this Summer... it's that Charlotte is out of their freakin mind.

My only concern with Biyombo is that we'd have to overpay him a bit to prevent the Hornets from matching.    Now, I have to assume we can snatch up Biyombo for a reasonable 3-5 mil per year.   Great buy low candidate.  Do it!

I think it's best to aim for a contract small enough to trade him to a capped out team for two minimum salary guys and a second round pick.

I would certainly be on board.

Strong rebounder. Strong shot blocker/rim protector.

Not sure Stevens would be on board. He's still extremely raw offensively and up until this past year was somewhat of a punchline trying to catch a basketball. I think Brad likes his centers more like Zeller.

I couldn't help to laugh by myself on your post, TP :)

But I still would like DA to take a chance on him.

Lets sign Embiid on as a big man coach when he retires next offseason and we will have everything!

I'm contractually obligated to comment in all Biyombo and Nerlens Noel threads.   Things were a lot simpler when I could just spend all my time bashing Rondo.  These days, I've had to diversify my misunderstood opinions.

Bismack Biyombo Season Review (http://www.atthehive.com/2015/5/23/8646137/2014-2015-player-report-card-bismack-biyombo)

Quote
It took a while to get Bismack Biyombo on the floor (remember the #BringBackTheBiz movement?), but once he did get on the floor, he was quite efficient. Had he qualified, he would have finished...

second in block percentage (6.3 percent)
seventh in offensive rebound percentage (13.7 percent)
eighth in defensive rating (99)
thirteenth in defensive box plus/minus (2.8)
There were 19 games this season in which he played 20 to 29 minutes. In those games, he averaged 7.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks, usually coming off the bench. When he did start, he had an offensive rating of 123. Post All-Star break, his free throw shooting, long one of his biggest weaknesses, showed dramatic improvement, as he shot 68 percent from the charity stripe. On field goal attempts within three feet of the basket, where most of a center's shots would be expected to come from, Biyombo shot 65.7 percent. Of the Hornets top five lineups based on +/-, Biyombo was a key part of three of those lineups.

He had career-highs in PER (15.2, fifth-best on the team), free throw attempt rate (.941, meaning he took almost one free throw for ever field goal he attempted), offensive rebound percentage (13.7 percent, just missing out on the top ten in the league in this statistic), offensive win shares (1.8, tied for best on the team), defensive win shares (2.2, tied for fifth on the team), win shares (4.0, fourth-best on the team. Are you catching onto the trend yet?), value over replacement player (0.5, sixth-best on the team), free throws attempted and made per game, free throw percentage

If we want a young rim protector, that's about as good as a buy low candidate you can get.

6'9" center?? I dunno...
remember, those players dont rebound with the tops of their heads.  ;D

biyombo's standing reach is 9' 3".

for comparison, zeller's standing reach is 8' 8.5".

the average standing reach for a center in the nba is 9' 1.2". biyombo is fine.
a question for the board. by ufa here, does that mean charlotte can, or cannot, match other teams offers to him?

If he's an unrestricted free agent (UFA), Charlotte doesn't have a right to match.

They cannot match on him. Can still sign him if they choose to and can afford it, but it doesn't sound like they will...
