No one else in the game is in the spot he sits right now.  At age 25, he’s both good enough and young enough to legitimately challenge Lebron’s greatness, if he wants to.

We always talk about “upside” in context to players, but never in terms of a player’s opportunity.  In Cleveland, Kevin is very near his opportunity ceiling, the only upside left is to win a ring as a 3pt shooting role player and help cement Lebron’s legacy as GOAT.  Other places, like LA or Porland, offer a 1a scoring role, but in the western conference there is the real possibility of winning 50 games and missing the playoffs, putting a limit on the upside he could realize playing for either team.

Boston on the other hand, offers the most upside of any team for Kevin in the sense that, right away were in the mix for HCA because we play in the East.  We will compete, no doubt about it.  Also, the team is tailor built for him to step into.  For all the pessimism on these boards, fact remains that this is a solid Celtics squad poised for the next step.  We’ve already got one legit 20ppg scorer, Thomas, who is an ideal P/R partner for Love.  Around those two, several wing defenders who know their roles.  We’d bring back Paul Pierce, another player who would fit nicely alongside Love.  Other key vets would follow.  Our coach, is one who understands the game in a way that a basketball technician like Love can respect.
Will Blatt really figure out how to incorporate him?
Is it worth betting your legacy on waiting around to find out?
Only Kevin can answer that question.

I do know this.  In the eastern conference, a Celtic team featuring Kevin Love is a lock to go deep into the playoffs and maybe even knock off the Cavs en route to the Finals.  Now, what happens if Love leads the team that does that

Kevin Love will forever be remembered as the guy that chose to go head to head with Lebron and won.  If he does that, his legacy could as one of the greatest PF’s of all time.

On the other side of the coin, he could play it safe and forever be mentioned in the same breath as Robert Horry and Steve Kerr as greatest championship role players.  His decision will come down if he truly believes he can be one of the game’s all-time greats.  The opportunity is here for him.  Carpe diem.

Great post. TP!

I really hope he signs with us. With one star in tow it would be a lot easier to attract other top players. Finding the first star is always the most difficult.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

TP
Unfortunately Love doesn't look like the competitor type like PP nor have the maturity of a KG to make history in any given team.
I hope he realize he can be one of them one day, hopefully after next season (for this free agency, I'm for once pessimistic).

Is it possible to make this a sticky post on top and in bold? So obviously if Love is curious and decide to check the ambiance here, he will see that post. That's me being as hopeful as I can be.  ;D

I agree with others, saying thank you for your optimism! TP +1

I totally agree that this is Love's best option to become a legend. It remains to be seen if he sees it that way as well, but to hop on the optimism band wagon, let's cross our fingers.  ;D
Truuuuuuuuuth!
