I don't think it is. The fact Woj reported what he did and the celtics are going to keep knocking until it really is a dead issue.  I think he is still going to be our main target once the floodgates open on july 1st.

It has been dead since he signed with Cleveland, IMO.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

We have no way of knowing. Things should become clearer in a couple of days and there's no point in fretting over piecemeal information before then.

Great words from a great man

I agree.  It just seems to me like the celtics would continue to just keep going down the list and Love would be #1 on it until I hear otherwise.

It was never alive except through Simmons and a few other green teamers.

Agreed. He wouldn't have opted out if he or Cavs management had other intentions of him resigning with the team. They will go over the cap to keep the team together minus JR Smith OR Shump and Haywood.

I think the reason  I'm not giving up on KLOve is we get that is a game changer right there.  From a basketball and moves standpoint as well.  He would give us so many options as far as what we can do.

Would you trade Smart for him?

I don't get why Love would opt-out only to remain in Cleveland.

The best course of action financially seemed to be to opt-in and sign a big deal next year.

If he really believes another year in Cleveland will knock his value below 19 mil than that's a sign that Cleveland is not a good place for him.

This move by him confuses me to no end. Does anyone have an explanation

I don't know. I more meant that as far as it would make Sully expendable and other players.  That would make me think lol.

Nope.

First, we have to wait until he signs a contract.  Until then, the Celtics will be "in play".

Then, if he signs the contract that seems to be in vogue right now, two years with the 2nd year being a player option, we will get to go through this again next year.

He has been picking up a lot of injuries freak or not. Back problem is a slight question mark. He probably just wants the long term security now.

I think common sense gives the most insight into the KLove situation. Sometimes things happen in a counter intuitive way, but I don't think so here.

Here I think the common sense thing for KLove to do is to do one of those 1+1 deals. He gets one more shot to fit into the Cavs for a Title run, and he still gets to opt out and sign a lucrative deal next off season. Further, by doing a 1+1 deal, he gets a little bit of security if he gets re-injured during the season.

He could sign a 1+1 deal with teams other than CLE, but the most sensible team to sign that with is CLE because they are almost certainly going to make the Finals again next year.

The other option he has is to sign a long term max deal now. The reason to do that would relate to how unhappy he was in CLE and how worried he is about his health. If he thinks next season will expose him as a long term injury guy, then it would make sense to sign a max deal now.

Common sense, however, says the most logical thing to do is to sign a short term deal with CLE, have another run with LBJ at a Title and then determine his long term future next off season when there is a ton of  money to spend all over the league.
