Ainge has been pretty adament that we need scoring in the 4th quarter.  Does that mean we need a star? Seems to me like he addressed some of that in the draft with Rozier who attacks the basket and Hunter with his 3 point shooting. Mickey with his energy.   Unless we are getting Kevin Love there really isn't a player in the league or has been mentioned outside of Cousins that really does that for us.    Was Golden State saying the same things when Curry was shooting poorly?  It takes players time.  I look at our roster and I don't think it's a given that we need that guy.  Kevin Love would be the clincher.  I think we are going to get him too somehow.  I think Sully might be shipped out anad we might sign a rim protector this offseason as well but not so sure.

To be again a contender - definitely.

At this stage of our rebuild - not necessarily.

The issue is look around the league.  There are only so many players like that. Kevin Love is basically it that has any potential of coming here. So by your logic if we are ever going to win a championship we need kevin love. jimmy butler maybe but he became that and was a later draft pick.  So was love for that matter.  We have players on our roster.

Stars are made not born is all I'm saying.  Kevin Love wasn't kevin love we know now as a rookie. Neither was Butler.

Also do people really believe Greg Monroe or Tobias Harris is going to be a superstar? I don't.  I think there are players already on our roster that have just as much potential if not more. They are just younger.

To win a championship, pretty much yeah.

The only team I can ever recall winning a chip without one was Detroit in 2004.

I think we are going to bring in Pierce and Lopez and offer up Sully, Bradley, Wallace and like 4 draft picks for Love.  That seems like the best case scenario.

I agree that team had no true stars, but they had so many really good players, just below star level—Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Ben Wallace (really good defensively). The only current Celtic who might be at that level (offensively, at least) is IT.

The 2 best scenarios I've heard in years of reading this  crap lol is harris and monroe or love, pierce and lopez.  Cousins would be a separate one. I just don't know.  The celtics always throw a curveball in the mix.

Those seem to be the 3 scenarios out there that seem best though.

It just seems to me like every year the internet hypes up scenarios..  "trader danny".. But in the end the celtics do what I want them to do which is build from within. I was all for trading for KG. There are certain scenarios that are good but even still.

If the Celtics need a star and they also need a 4th quarter scorer, those don't have to be the same player.

Rasheed Wallace, Chauncey Billups, and Rip Hamilton in their primes qualify as stars, without question.
