Chandler is too old and has slowed down already. Regarding Ellis, we already have about 4 guys at that position that are younger and will fit much better in CBS's system, and cost a heck of a lot less. We need to spend our money elsewhere, at SF and Center.

Plus, Monta is injury prone.

Monta is an explosive scorer with ice water veins when he's locked in. He's a 6'3 IT and he DOES have 3 point and beyond range. He can go on cold streaks, but when he's locked in, look out.

We have zero need for Ellis, but Chandler would be a nice fit provided he's willing to take a reasonable contract. I wouldn't pay him $15M though. I think there's some value to making this a 50+ win team with no big star, if we are going to be courting e.g. a Durant next offseason.

Yeah, he's a little older. But we're talking about a guy that just averaged a double-double in the Western Conference, played 75 games, blocked shots, and shot 67% from the field.

Suppose we sign Chandler, S&T for Tobias Harris (Wallace, Sully and picks?), and Harris + Chandler make $25M combined. Re-sign Crowder if the price is right.

Smart / Rozier
Bradley / Thomas / Young
Crowder / Turner
Harris / KO / Mickey
Chandler / Zeller

I wouldn't call that team a contender, but we could make a run in the east with zero bad contracts and just one UFA (Zeller) next offseason.

Rather do nothing and try again next year.

Not me.

Why "not do nothing" and just stay where we are currently at?

Adding Ellis, Chandler and maybe Harris makes us a contender and a much better team.

I want to see us playing for the playoffs, not draft picks.

Now you're moving the goal post. Now you have us acquiring other FAs and then adding these guys on top of it.

I am just saying if we struck out on the top free agents which it sounds like we might (referring to LMA, Love, Gasol and Jordan) then going after guys like Ellis, Chandler and Harris would be a very nice consolation prize and would improve our team exponentially from last season.

Instead of being lucky to make the playoffs which we were this year, I want us to be in the driver's seat for a playoff spot next year.

Why were we lucky to make the playoffs?
2019 Historical Draft - Golden State

C - Bill Russell/Joel Embiid
PF - Giannis Antetokounmpo/Tommy Heinsohn
SF - Kevin Durant/Billy Cunningham
SG - Bruce Bowen/David Thompson
PG - Isiah Thomas/James Harden

Will Chandler help us win a title? If no then we should just cut the extra fat(ET, AB, IT) for prospects and assets and be a good little lottery team for the next 2-3 years. Also would not mind adding Tobias if Danny thinks its a good move/value move.

Smart/ Terry
Young/ Terry
Harris
Sully
KO

Pretty much agree. I would only take Chandler if there were no other rim defenders left and we had signed, say, Love and Harris and absolutely needed one to contend for the conference title (really unlikely). He's probably too expensive anyway.

I've also heard that Monta wants to play for ATL, and to be honest he might be a better fit there.
I'd love that. Atlanta need another creator out there on the perimeter besides Jeff Teague. Too much responsibility on Teague. Monta would give them real diversity offensively. Make them much more difficult to defend against.

Don't see how this makes sense for Atlanta. They already have Bazemore, Korver, Sefalosha and just traded for Hardaway.

If we got Ellis, we could hopefully then ship Bradley out with Hunter as our back-up shooting guard.

If Bosh and George weren't injured, then Miami or Indy or both make the playoffs which would've pushed the Celtics down the standings below the 7th and 8th seed.

Let's not worry about how "expensive" a certain player is. The Celtics are a multi-million dollar franchise with plenty of money to spend. It's not like they are crying poverty. Plus its not our money so that shouldn't be a concern.

It's too bad that it didn't play out the way you paint the scenario.  Boston would have been much better off for it.

And a great big "Not a chance" to Monta Ellis.

This right here is what I am talking about and what we need. A scorer who thrives on taking a game over, putting the ball in the net and isn't afraid of the big moment. Not necessarily someone who's a ball hog but essentially our answer to JR Smith.

I just think Ellis would be a great pick up for this team and then deal Bradley for whatever you can get.

I would like to see the C's get Ellis if the price is right.  This dude can score.  My only concern is that I read that he is a moody guy and a hammerhead in the lockerroom.  But, I will assume that Danny can figure out if Stevens can handle him.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I can't really get behind a SG with a career 3P% of 31.4% and 28.5% last season.
