That would really help the team right now if he could take over that duty Start at SF. His weaknesses are he's not that quick for a point guard and he did not penetrate enough at all, however he is extremely strong and long and he's 230 pounds, he will not be a long term solution at pg unless he drops weight so he must play the two or three.
I project the future 2 guard will be either Young or hunter, RJ has great 2 guard skills shooting, handles, and passing he's good at getting blocks and steals.
And if we eventually started Rozier, Hunter, Smart that would  actually be very long lineup 6'8' 6'10" 6'9" wingspans.
We would need Crowders big body off the bench but do you think Smart could do it every night.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

We can barely start him at Point Guard, now you want to put him at SF?
yikes?  He's not Magic Johnson! :P

Sure, if you want him getting throughly abused on a regular basis by the likes of LeBron, KD, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Carmelo Anthony, and so on and so forth.

Slide him to the 2 at the combo guard. Move IT4 to the point, have Rozier come of the bench. Crowder starts at 3 and Young backs him up. Bradley and ET are traded

I know I'm trying to think of a way to keep Bradley, but the fact is someone has to go, Turner doesn't solve this logjam either, Bradley or Smart has to go.

Yes, but it would be a disservice to him. Smart should play PG or SG. He can give SF minutes in the right matchup but putting him there full time will put in too many disadvantageous situations and you'll get a lot less out of him.

I love Bradley on the team, but something has to give. The only assets of value are Bradly, Smart, and IT. Our rookies and young wouldn't have much valuable return, most likely future picks of some sort. Bradley is the prime target, he can prove of use to playoff teams, and can get some big of value in return. I REALLY do not want to trade Smart or IT.

I live how you name the best SF's in the game, fact is he can guard most SF's as good as Crowder or anyone else

I agree with this.  I think we may keep ET into the season, less minutes to Young, Hunter and Rozier early on.  Build a little more value for ET.  I believe he already has more value than he did when we got him, but he can add some more with playing time during the first quarter of the season.
If either Bradley or Smart is traded, the draft begins to make sense.  Smart has more value, but I'd rather trade Bradley.
Add a SF and C and things start to come into focus.
Moving Smart to SF is pushing it a bit.  Like has already been posted, Smart would be at a disadvantage against some of the Stud SFs in the league.  Let's not set him up to fail.  Long term, back court rotation of IT, Smart, Rozier and Hunter.  James Young backs up the Starting SF that we add (T.Harris?).  Just my thoughts.

Patterson/Bennett/Arthur
Ross/Budinger
Miller/Hunter/Foye
Rubio/Ennis/Bayless

Uhh, am I not supposed to name the best SFs? They're all starters. They're the guys he'd be defending.

And Smart is a generous 6'4"; I'm going to call bull on your assertion that "he can guard most SFs as good as Crowder."

Call it what you want. Smart cam cover almost anyone 6'8" and under. Here he does a great job on Wiggins, A top 10 athlete in the NBA. Who is also 6'8"

no, he is 6'4", he can defend some SF not named LeBron, Carmelo or similar, but he can defend some starting SF out there.

With that said, since he's 6'4", I do not think he can score on some SF out there as well

he's best at SG, he has the size to defend and score on a lot of SG.
