I think we all need to take a step back and pump the breaks on Winslow.  He's a solid young performer but has limited shooting and offensive skill. Un  less he improves that, he's at best a smaller jeff green

Nobody even mentions he only goes left.  A lot of players have washed out because they can only go one way.

That's because most people, myself included don't take the time to look critically at something from differnt perspectives.  Our culture is... Hype it.... Believe it...complain about it.... Leave.

But yes, as I stated, limited offensive skill

I love this.  Why didn't Danny try to trade with X?  I bet Danny was talking to kost teams, but guess what, it takes a partner to make a deal.  Look at the reported offer to Charlotte.  I'm glad that didn't go through. Way to much to move up seven slots. I wasn't happy with the outcome of the night. I'm hoping for another trade to fall.  In Danny I trust!

I was on board with the playoff push in spite of this... mostly because I think Stevens was on his way back to the NCAA if we didn't get some positive momentum heading into the offseason.  I think Stevens is a big part of our future and a big part of our ability to lure free agents.

I agree here, but I don't think the issue was, "make the playoffs or I leave," but I imagine it was more of a, "I will never try to lose games" type thing.

And sadly, yes, at this point, we can only think and hope that he's a big part of luring free agents.

Finally, in response to the thread, yeah Ainge and Riley aren't likely to ever make any trades.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Let's just hope Winslow turns out to not so great or Rozier or Rj turn out to be better so we don't have to have any regrets. There's still  non-zero chance of that so let's just hope for the best. It's really all we can do now

To answer the OP, because Riley isn't an idiot.

No way you trade the pick if you are Miami when a stud like Winslow is still on the board.    Miami lucked out big time.
