we already tried, nothing we can do...we made a great offer, it's up to them to accept or not...even that I felt was a bit overpaying

I am the only one who thinks we are better off with Jordan saying no?
I mean Turner is arguably a great prospect, but SIX draft picks.
And the best of all things is Jordan picked Kaminsky instead (while he already has Hawes who is basically the same player under a different name).

smh Jordan might be the worst GM ever after this crazy guy at the Clips whose name I am trying to forget.

Looks like this was the most serious trade up conversation we got into.

Per the sources below, Danny wanted Winslow really badly, bordering on the irrational.

Why Jordan said no to this, now this is completely beyond me.

If it is true that a unprotected Brooklyn pick was offered then I will admit it really was a fair offer Ainge put on the table after all.

Flash forward two years.

"MJ, remember when you could have had four first rounders for that 2015 number 9 ... or you could have taken Winslow, but you said nah and took high end Josh McRoberts?"

"...MJ?...you ok?"

Wow, if we really included one of the Nets unprotected 1sts then Jordan is insane for turning that down for Kaminsky, and Ainge was borderline insane for even offering that much for #9.

Michael Jordan was my idol as a kid, and I'll always hold him in high regard as a basketball player and his high IQ on the court.

But man... as an adult, I can'tell believe how stupid this guy is off the court. I'd get it if he drafted Winslow, because that means he coveted a great player to turn down all those picks the same way Ainge was willing to deal all those picks to get him. Frank Kaminsky though?! Between him and the Kwame Brown disaster, he should never be able to make another basketball decision again.

Kwame Brown, Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo, Michael Kidd-Gillchrist, Frank Kaminsky, the list just keeps on growing for high lottery busts for MJ. If I where a lottery pick, I would be p---ed if MJ drafted me.

On the other end, let's say Kaminsky is every bit as good as Charlotte thinks he is.  Imagine he's like a less athletic version of LaMarcus Aldridge with a more developed three point shot.

Then you look at that package of picks Ainge offered in a few years and it turns out it was 2015 #16, #28, #33, & #45, plus the 2016 #15 and #17 picks.  Let's say all of those picks turn into bench players or D-Leaguers.

Oh, and Charlotte makes the playoffs as a middle seed next season and makes it to the second round, the crowning achievement of Big Al's career, with Kaminsky getting 1st team All-Rookie honors.  That would be a really big deal for that franchise.

People keep talking about Jordan, but they forget that Rich Cho works for the Hornets, too, and he's not a dummy.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

If it is true that we offered a unprotected Brooklyn pick there isn't much else we could have offered. I would not have included Smart. If Charlotte wanted our other players a trade would have been made. So basically either we have to accept that our "treasure chest" of picks is not as good as we think or Jordan was wrong to not accept the trade. I guess time will tell but if it is true we offered a Brooklyn pick then Ainge did everything he could to trade up.

That is all assuming a Brooklyn pick was offered though.

That being said he still could have traded up less spots and got a player like Turner or Oubre. Or he could have picked someone different at 16, etc.

I don't like our draft at all but if he did offer a Brooklyn pick then I can't criticize him for not trading up to 9.

Yep, can't forget about Adam Morrison. Wow, that's quite the list of horrible draft picks by one guy! Amazing!

Vonleh, who he already gave up on (too soon still, but it's looking that way).
