just because we have 2 guys in Marcus and Rozier doesn't mean they dont bring different things.  Isiaih is also here. so is bradley.  DA has some tough decisions to make going forward but we are in the drivers seat.  I just really dislike when someone on the internet speculates hey we drafted Rozier we are now trading Marcus. They are still 2 completely different players.  If DA always thought that way he would be canned by now.

Rozier and Hunter being drafted doesn't mean that Smart in particular will be traded; it does mean, however, that at least two of the guards will eventually be traded, one most likely before the season even begins.

We also have turner on the last year of his deal don't forget.  Turner, Isiaiah, Smart and Bradley were all able to get minutes last year. If we are going to be a guard geared team we are going to want to have strong guards. That wasn't necessarily ideal but possibly having smart take Turners spot ultimately is possible.  Rozier is going to  take a bit.

I think Isaiah Thomas is the one who is under threat from Rozier. Not Smart.

I think there is good odds I.Thomas gets traded in next 18 months to make way for Rozier to become main scoring guard off the bench.

Get rid of Bradley, Pressey, Turner, and Thornton.

We have enough guards...

I would be happy with Young, Hunter, IT, Smart, and Rozier as our PG/SG's. A 5 guard rotation is good enough, I just don't see Pressey or Turner making it that far before being waived or traded. The Wolves were interested in signing Turner, so maybe?

My guess would be

(1) Bradley, before the season starts

(2) Thomas, sometime in the next year in a package with one or two other players on the roster for an established player or lottery pick.

i think we should pause and consider what the Red Claws wanted.  Maybe they needed a PG.  Perhaps we drafted Hozier for the Red Claws.

Rozier, Mickey and Thornton are gonna get us a championship next year ... a D-League championship.

I agree. Rozier is not Smart's "replacement". If anything, he's more similar to Bradley than Smart or Isaiah.

Also, Rozier is gonna be a rookie. He's in no position to receive quality minutes (along with Hunter/Thornton), so it's not like Stevens is going to have trouble distributing minutes. The rotation will still be Smart/Bradley/Thomas/Turner this upcoming season barring trades/injuries. If James Young plays, it will probably be at the 3.

I would love for this to happen.

Well I agree if rozier proves he can play. Bringing in IT was a bad move, I have to believe he was brought here for one reason, to convince Love to sign here. If so and it works than we have to keep him, otherwise we ship him out ASAP.

So we ship IT out for what..exactly?  Another pick?  Since he has a great contract, we should replace him with rookie, or an over-priced Vet?  Since he is not "a championship PG, why then will he fetch us a star or lottery pick?  Makes ZERO sense IMO.

What are we trying to do here? Win?  Play Hinkie-ball?  Tank?

IT is a quality player on a good contract with a good attitude about the coach and the city. Just cant have any of that now can we?

If we package him for a trade that moves the needle, then OK.   but the contradiction of his value vs his worth to this team is illogical to me.
