Drafting WCS to try to have a Center that can run and play uptempo, and supposedly SAC putting DMC at the 4?

I don't actually like that.

I think WCS/DMC are both 5's, and if you try to make DMC a stretch 4, then he won't be able to post up in the paint or rebound the ball as much.

Does this mean DMC, or WCS could be on the trade block soon? Not to mention the Kings are still supposedly interested in McGee.

Can I just say how much SAC/CHA suck as franchises? They got two players that are redundant. WCS with DMC, and Frank with Marvin Williams or Spencer Hawes... I mean I can't imagine how much flack the Hornets are getting for such a dumb pick.

Cousins has been on the block for a long while now, where have you been? :P

Cousins is the center.

WCS is the PF.

They are a mess, maybe trading Cousins, maybe firing Karl, wanting to play Cousins and WCS who don't work well with each other. Love and WCS works well, Love being a better outside shooter and WCS being able to cover switchs.

The way they draft they are the Hornets of the West, or is the Hornets the Kings of the east?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Cousins had stated earlier that he wanted the Kings to draft WCS. With all of the trade rumors and the possible 'love lost', Sac management made an excellent decision in keeping their franchise player happy by showing him that they respect his opinion and that he is there to stay.

The choice should really should come as no surprise to anybody who thought that Sac wasn't dealing Cousins.

Just because they used a relatively high pick on WCS, that doesn't mean the Kings should be starting him immediately.  If they don't trade DMC, WCS should probably start the season coming off the bench.

WCS is the PF.

What? Why would DMC want WCS on their team?

Also... How can he be a PF? WCS has absolutely no mid range game, and will just clog the paint.

And DMC has supposedly been on the trade block 'hint, hint.'

It's the most dysfunctional team in the league without question.

Here?s the problem with replacing your front office right before the draft. Vlade & Karl had never seen Mudiay play. Mudiay > WCS

Here's my guess...  Cousins for Russell + Randle.

PG - Russell, SG - McLemore, SF - Stauskas, PF - Randle, C - WCS

Nice young core

I honestly think the Lakers are very high on Russell. If they wanted to go after Cousins, I think they would've drafted Okafor to replace DMC.

That assumes they took Russell for themselves.   I think they took Russell for Sacramento... I think the Kings are stupid, but I think the Kings decided they were better off getting PG - Russell + PF - Randle + C - WCS ....  over C - Okafor, PF - Randle + Guard at #6?   ... First of all, Okafor and Randle are a bad fit together.   WCS and Randle compliment each other, because one is offense and the other is defense.  Second, the Kings may have expected Mudiay to be off the board by #6... or like Chad Ford said, they hadn't even seen Mudiay play so he wasn't someone they liked.

It's a "conspiracy theory" a bit, I guess... but I'm leaning towards the idea that the Lakers took Russell for the Kings.    It very much seems like Russell + Randle for Cousins is a logical trade that would make sense for both teams.   Drafting WCS at #6 (maybe 5-10 picks too high, btw) gives them their replacement for Cousins.  This is definitely not to suggest that WCS is comparable to Cousins at all... he definitely isn't... but he plays that position and is a good defensive role player.   Russell gives them a dynamic guard that would fit very well with what George Karl would want to do.  WCS + Randle are a good compliment for each other... whereas Randle + Okafor would be all offense and no defense.

Really?  Core?  Or just two studs one at Center and one at PG.

I'd rather have Bradley, Crowder and Sully between WCS and Russell.  I guess McLemore could outdo Bradley some day when he becomes a two way player.  And Randle may or may not turn out better than Sully.

I'll bet Rozier has a better career than Stauskas...

2 players that never play a single nba game for DMC ?
That would be one of the dumbest trade in history.

Why would DMC want WCS on their team?

First, DMC repeatedly got frustrated with the Kings defense last year.  It was both a lack of talent and a lack of effort.  WCS will help with both.

Second, DMC's minutes were limited a bit due to foul trouble.  That's because he was always defending the best interior player on the opposing team.  With WCS, he can switch some of those defensive assignments, which will theoretically keep Boogie on the floor more.

I don't love the pick because of the players left on the board (Mudiay and Winslow).  I also think that DMC + WCS creates spacing issues, or at least prolongs them (since the Kings didn't have a competent PF beforehand.)  However, I can see why Boogie likes this pick.
