I'll put it this way how I feel about the draft we had last night. I rather sign Gerald Wallace to an extension then our picks last night. I'm pretty sure a 10 year old who knows basketball could have drafted better. We draft not one but two point guards, a shooting guard and the only thing of value a power forward that can block. At 16th we had the chance to either draft one or two small forwards who would have filled a void with Justin Anderson, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, or I hate saying personally Sam Dekker but I rather him at 16. Both guys who can shoot the 3 and a position of need and were higher on ever board. Or even a great power forward in Bobby Portis, but we draft Terry Rozier. If we were smart and drafted Anderson or Dekker at 28th who would have solved shooting the 3 and a position of need, we could have taken best available which would have been Montrezl Harrel (not just cause I'm a fan, he would have been there on the board) or could have taken a big like Rakeem Christmas Kevon Looney. Yes, does R.J. Hunter have a nice shot and fell late, but in better thinking like I said Anderson and Dekker would fix two problems where Hunter only fixes one.  Then 33rd pick comes, I will admit I like Jordan Mickey, would have still drafted him there even if I take Harrell at 28th because Sully only one year left and Bass, Jerebko are gone. Even here I'd be willing to bet Terry Rozier would be here considering I saw this guy on the mock drafts anywhere from 25-40. So Ainge could have had him here and I wouldn't give a [dang]. Then our last pick at 45th, we draft oh wait another point guard, Marcus Thorntons. What the HELL. At this pick you don't really expect anything, but [dang] I would have taken a shot at a foreign guy who could at least play over seas, or better yet take a chance on Robert Upshaw, a legit center that has issues. So he might not play, but [dang] he's got a better shot at playing for us with his position then another point guard.

I feel your pain bro and agree totally. I guess we just have to hope the kid pans out or is packaged in a trade. I generally don't get caught up in draft picks because most picks don't pan out but it was very disappointing.

Well...it depends on what you think you are solving, and what your objective is.

Do you really think that if we plan to make more noise in next year's playoffs, that ANY of the guys you mentioned would have made us better?

If DA is planning to sign Harris in FA..dont you think a 17PPg wing with experience trumps any guy we could have drafted. Heck, just about any decent wing fA would be better than 19 and 20 year olds.

Rozier (especially if AB or Smart is used to get your big guy you want) stands to have WAY more impact than those guys you mentioned...in that he provides what we dont have enough of :  attacking and ballhandling.  Added a big SG too.

Would you like the pick more if we got Monroe or traded for Noel?  I would.

The picture is not complete yet, so give it time before making final judgement. My bet is that we wont mind this draft at all if we simply add one of the guys I mentioned.

I didn't read either, but I would seriously ask the Posters and Mods to consolidate negative reactions to the draft into one thread. In the last 15 hours we have had the following threads

Worst. Draft. Ever
This Sucks
Why people that didn't like the draft don't like it
Should Danny Ainge be Fire
Draft Result Rant

Probably others not remembering off hand. Can we please have this all in one thread. We get it, some people hate the draft. However, having 50 different threads where each individual fan makes a new title for this theme is just stupid and clutters the board. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop making new threads like this and combine into one thread.

OP, I see you feel the same way about the draft as you do about paragraphs.

I would advise you to reconsider your stance on both.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Pretty much disagree completely with the OP.  You take the best player period.  And I would trust danny's evluation much more than any poster.  Thread is a waste of time.

OK
Rozier would not have been there in the second round. People feared he would go at 18, 22, and 26 so I think it is fairly safe to say he would not have lasted.

All anyone says is we need to go BPA BPA BPA then all of a sudden when you dont like BPA its stupid.

Ainge thought Rozier was BPA. I would have preferred RHJ and probably could have talked myself into Portis Hunter or Anderson, but I like Rozier as a prospect a lot.

After the Rozier pick, Ainge got RJ Hunter at 28 Mickey at 33 (shout out to Triboy for nailing that one) and an elite athlete who shoots 40% from 3 at 45.

Hunter at 28 is tremendous value, and at 45 you just want someone who will contribute in the NBA. Danny took a swing by drafting a guy with the two things you cant teach. Crazy athleticism and a sweet 3 pt stroke.

I get hating the Rozier pick and I get hating the position we are in, but I think if you step back and look at the draft in a vacuum Danny did I pretty solid job overall.

I do think the guys I mentioned make us better as a team.  I have nothing against the talent we drafted, but the fit isn't there.  Also you take best available and fit, Terry Rozier wasn't best available and wasn't a food fit.  Yes, R.J. Hunter was nice to fall to us, I don't so much have a problem because of the talent, but here I look at needs.  We need bigs, rim protectors or small forwards, anything but a guard.

Yes, I like Harris.  I would like him better if I know we have centers and power forwards to pair with him, not 8 guards we have on our team now after the draft.

The only way I'd like this draft is if we can get actually all three of the guys you said.  Trade Smart or even Rozier, some picks, to 76ers for Noel to give us a defensive center.  Trade Wallace somewhere to gain the ability to sign both Monroe and Harris, I'd be excited.  Plus I want to be able to resign Crowder to back up Harris.

With basketball you need to be able to put out a team, which doesn't include 8 guards.

Could this turn into a good draft, I doubt it unless trades and free agents are made.  This is best case I could see with the guys you mentioned.  I know 14 guys but got to figure some in the d-league.

Center - Noel, Zeller, KO,
Power Forward - Monroe, Sully, Mickey
Small Forward - Harris, Crowder, (Turner fits everywhere 1-3)
Shooting Guard - Bradley, Young, Hunter
Point Guard - IT, Smart or Rozier cause one would have to be traded
