The Celtics roster is a mess of redundancy and role players who have hit their ceiling.  Let's fix that.

Trade:

Jared Sullinger + Gerald Wallace for Roy Hibbert

Gives Indiana a young replacement for David West.  Celtics take a flier on Roy Hibbert in the last year of his deal.  Finally get a rim protector.  Guy who might re-discover some of his potential with a change of scenery.

Trade:

Avery Bradley + Evan Turner for Cody Zeller and Marvin Williams

Charlotte has added Frank Kaminsky and Spencer Hawes in the past week, Big Al is sticking around another year, and Bismack Biyombo is a restricted free agent.  Makes sense to move Cody for some more skill and shooting depth on the wing.  The Celts don't have a great need for Zeller or Marvin (who is still a borderline rotation player), but this trade clears up playing time for some of the younger guys.

Plus, what's not to love about two Zellers running the floor?

Free agency:

Let Bass and Jerebko walk.

Re-sign Crowder and Datome to reasonable deals.

This leaves us with an exceedingly young, defensively oriented team.

Rozier / Thomas / Pressey
Smart / Hunter / Thornton
Crowder / Young / Datome
Olynyk / Zeller / Marvin
Hibbert / Zeller / Mickey

Probably not gonna win a ton of games, but you never know.  The important thing is it prunes away some of the excess on the roster and clears up room for younger guys to sink or swim.  Either the Celts find out some of these younger guys are the real deal, or they end up picking high in the lottery next year.  Win-win.

I like the idea of Olynyk being the man at PF surrounded by a bunch of athletic defenders. This is a make or break year for him. IDK if I'd resign GiGi though. I think I'd just save the roster spot for Iverson/Summer League standout/Roster spot for trade

Getting rid of Bladley, Turner and Sullinger are kind of my off-season wishes now. So I don't hate your ideas. But if we could get some picks for them the better.
Also how is Pressey still on the squad? Ship out this dude.
Goal for next season: Top 2 seed.
Say goodbye to: Turner, Zeller, Sully.

I don't care that much about GiGi either way, but it never hurts to have skilled shooters on the bench ready to come in and hit shots at any time, so long as the price is right.

Pressey sticks around in my scenario because he's super cheap and he provides exactly what you need from a third string point guard and nothing more.  He's not good enough to expect more, but he's competent enough to not screw you over if you have to turn to him for 10-20 minutes on any given night.

I like this idea! I agree, that squad probably won't win a ton of games, but it's a start...I feel as if we still have money to waste after these deals?

My thought to clean up this roster:

Sign Monroe

Resign JJ / Crowder

S+T    KO/Turner/Dallas pick  for Harris  (Magic really wanted Porzingis to pair with Vuc)

AB/Sully/picks for Porzingis  (Knicks were trying to trade out and need vets to play with Melo)

IT, Smart, Harris, JJ, Monroe
Rozier, Young/Hunter, Crowder, Porzingis, Zeller

Mickey, Iverson, Thornton

Lots of potential...young team... room to maneuver (value)

I like that Sullinger trade a lot but I'm not crazy about the Bradley trade.

What picks do you think it will take for the Knicks to part with Porzingis? The Jordan Hornets supposedly passed up on 6 picks for the number 9. With those two guys, Sully/AB, I'm assuming our own pick as well as Brooklyn's next year. Both of those may end up being lottery picks.

I don't think we're getting a "young elite" for any of the above.  If we were, those guys would have been traded for a "young elite" in the top 10 of the draft.

I'd settle for reasonably priced, relatively young players who are a better fit on the roster or who have slightly higher upside.

In reponse...

1. I dont think we need alot of picks to send if we include two starters for the knicks. This should appease Melo.

2. I also think that by adding Monroe and Harris, its a net gain in the win department.

We also do not have to rely on OUR win/loss to determine a high pick..lets let Brooklyn's do that.

I'm not in favor of relying on the Nets to have a really bad year in order to get this rebuild on track.  It's much easier to find your way into the middle of the pack than it is to bottom out, and the Nets have no incentive to bottom out.

I don't think the Knicks are trading Porzingis for anything less than an established player with star potential, or else they would have done it last night.

Sorry to pee in your cheerios but I don't like any of this:
Hate Hibbert, this slow, nonathletic type of player is going the way of the dodo bird in the NBA, report is Indy will try to dump him for these reasons.

Forget Zeller and Marvin I'd rather have rozier (and you can read how much "I like" that pick  :-X

As for our own free agents Jerebko is the only one I would bring back.
