The Celts should be looking at mid-20s guys who are looking for a fresh start and an opportunity to prove they can thrive in a larger or more consistent role.  Greg Monroe is the name at the top of the list for me.

I agree with Pho, although I don't like Monroe -- I think he'll work too well for the Knicks for me to want to see him anywhere else.

Doubt danny goes after monroe. Celts want big players that can stretch the floor. Unless your name is drummond or dhoward.

Aldridge has informed his team, he will not be back next season, we have a shot here.

Gasol has let it be known how much he likes the city of Boston, that is a very important factor, when going after a FA. Signing Gasol would be huge!

With a few trades, (the thinning of the guards) and maybe relieving ourselves of "the twins" at PF known as O'Sullinger (KO and Sully) and getting a PF that stays in condition, and can do a bit of everything would be great. (Monroe)

That would be nice, but I can't fathom any reason either of those guys—or any other comparable free agent—would choose Boston. If money's the top priority, they'd get the most from their current teams. If title contention in the next couple years is the top priority, Boston's not very promising.

There is no conceivable way that is going to happen. I still can't believe Ainge passed on Dekker, Justin Anderson. And Hollis Jefferson. The draft was a bust. We now will have to trade Marcus Smart to get anything back in FA. I guess we have to wait on the NJN picks to come to fruition.

My fear is that CBS will get frustrated and go back to college when Indiana, UNC or Duke opens in the next couple of years .

All indications are that Aldridge is going to Texas or LA or NY. I have never read anywhere that he has any interest in Boston. Why would he?

Gasol is a guarantee to re-sign with Memphis as they are much closer to a championship than any of the other suitors.

Who wants to come build with 19 guards and a few undersized forwards?

Let's face it - NOBODY of any value wants to come here. We may get a rebound free agent that loses out on big money elsewhere. Milsap? Really? Who wants him? When he looked at LeBron he decided to hide under the bench for the series. He's just another undersized forward of which we already have a few.

I don't think the Celtics have what it takes to secure an "A" free-agent like Aldridge or Gasol. They might have more luck with Monroe though. The Celtics are in Boston, not exactly a free-agent destination.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but Gasol and Aldridge are not coming to Boston.   Maybe, and I stress maybe, the C's could land Love.  Highly doubt it, but he's young enough to waste a season building, and maybe is the closet C's fan we've read about, which gives us a shot.  I'd say the highest odds for a potential signing, are Greg Monroe.  Even that isn't a guarantee.

The C's should probably play the season with their young roster.  Give as many minutes to the young players as is possible, and take as many losses as they can in the process.  It's the harsh reality of it my friends. A team full of good rotational talent gets you nowhere fast.  Being a 7-10 seed is a recipe for mediocrity, which in the NBA is the road worst traveled. Take it from me.  I was a 20-something diehard fan during the 90's.  To come in as a C's fan following the 80's Celtics, and then live through 20 years of middling mediocrity, really sucks.  We need a bad year or two, if we can't get lucky with gold picking in the teens, or we can't attract a big time talent via FA or a trade.  That's the harsh truth.
