I think this offseason will be very important for Ainge..can he get a top free agent or a trade? If he cant then we be in same boat as last year..not a winning record

Lemme ask you this: who should replace him? Presumably you don't have a clue, which means you don't know much about NBA front offices.

If you've got a suggestion, make it. Otherwise respect What you have: one of the best GMs in basketball.

The timeframe for consolidating our assets into at least an attempted contending roster has always been from the 2015 offseason to the 2016 offseason.  We've just entered that period.  Not thrilled that we didn't move up to grab Winslow, but there are a lot of moves left to be made.  Next up is how we divvy out our cap space.

Not so sure I agree with many posters who feel Danny made a mistake drafting more guards.  He must have felt any forwards or centers he could have acquired at that draft position were either not better than what they already had or that he could have done better at those positions via free agency. 

We also need to be realistic here....Danny didn't want to draft at 16.  He wanted to be in the top 10.  It turned out nobody wanted our assets or the asking price was way too high to get any of those picks. 

My feeling is two weaknesses had to be addressed.  One is how teams discovered they could over-match Isaiah by putting taller players against him.  I believe Minnesota and Cleveland(?) did this best.  At times they literally scored at will against him.  Many of us love Isaiah, but realistically he posses a liability on defense against certain teams and/or players. 

From what we are hearing Rozier should actually shine as a defensive player.  The value of such defense was apparent in the way Dellavedova guarded Curry in the NBA Finals.  He proved to be a handful. Defensively, Rozier appears to be even better than Dellavedova.  Throw in Marcus Smart and Bradley and this makes for one tough back-court match-up for most teams.  Was Rozier the right player to select given the talent available?  We don't know yet.  On paper the idea seems like a good one to me. 

Drafting Hunter...another good choice.  He can shoot.  This skill is something the C's desperately had to address.  Too many times the team couldn't buy a basket.  In hindsight the Celtics only really started to gel when they acquired Prince.  Sure, he was a defensive liability because of his injuries, but with him in the lineup confidence in the offense took off.  There weren't those long scoring lulls we had become accustomed to. I don't expect Hunter to be as good as Prince. Hopefully, he will provide scoring consistency.

Danny is one of the best GM in the game.  Yeah, I know of few of you will talk about Kool-Aide since I defended him, but he has made some major deals to help this franchise.  It takes two to tango, and the other teams were obviously asking for too much in return in order to move up.  I am glad we still have the two picks from the Nets to use.j

Also, Danny has been known to fleece a few GM in trades over the years.  It probably makes it harder for a fellow GM to want to trade with Danny.

I've been backing Danny the entire time but after trading for IT, making the playoffs and last nights disaster he should start feeling the heat IMO.

People need to understand we have 4 first round picks on our team from the last 2 drafts. That is almost a third of the entire roster. Next year we have how many first round picks? Danny is in a bind here because we can't keep drafting 2 players every year it wont work roster wise. He HAS to move some of these picks and right now he has found nobody that will take any of them. IMO he should stat getting worried about it, this "great" position will quickly take a 180.

since 1999, 4 years before ainge took over, a grand total of 7 teams have won a championship.

duncan (spurs) and kobe (lakers) account for 10 of those championships.

wade (heat) has another 3.

that leaves the boston celtics, the pistons, the mavs, and the warriors with 1 each.

so i'd say danny has done fine, he took a poor team to a championship and, after he broke that team up, and he left us with tons of young assets.

he knows he needs stars - and so far he hasn't ever been able to land that transcendent player that leads to dynasties. but don't think that's because of lack of effort. those guys are hard to get, especially when your team has continued success and misses the lottery every year.
