I don't think he's the steal of the draft, but there is a lot to like about him. That confidence, that first step, those long arms. Looking forward to summer league!

I'm starting to think that you're just trolling. So from now on, no more feeding.

Rozier is the biggest steal of the draft. Dude can't even shoot 3's that well. Give me a break.
Next thing you know this crazy troll is going to be telling us we should have taken Upshaw at 16. Talk about insane!
i see what you did there. ;D

What has me concerned is, Rosier is described as a 6-2 combo guard. Not a PG as I thought earlier in the night.

What really is troubling is, there is no need on this team. We don't need another IT. Not to mention RJ Hunter is also a guard. Yes, Hunter is a good pick, if you didn't just sign Bradley to a contract and you didn't just choose James Young in the draft last year.

I'll ask the question again, where are the minutes coming from. James Young needs to be developed this year, he looks more like a 2 guard right now, than a SF. Is Smart still a PG? Or is Smart a combo guard too, he also needs minutes.

Rosier is our first round draft pick, he should get some minutes somewhere. Is he a PG or is he a combo.
IT is also a PG, are his minutes going to be effected?

Last thing...I thought we needed shooting and length. Everyone said, we need shooting and length.

Please Danny, tell me there's a plan here.

A 6'1'' combo guard with a poor outside shot and questionable court vision / passing, who is already 21 years old.

Yep, quite a steal.

Agreed. He skies for rebounds and has a nose for them in traffic.

I really don't understand the IT comparisons. Love IT's spark plug offense and his contract, but he is not a two way player. Plus, their games are not that similar.

I never once thought "this guy is like Smart" during his two years at the Ville close up. He mimicked D Wade so much that Pitino jokingly would warn him to "stop throwing around his body so much or you'll be hurt in a few years as much as D Wade has been"

Anyways I will be back in a few weeks when the "fire Danny, this draft is a nightmare" type overreactions have subsided. No fun

Hope so but right now I have zero reason to believe it.

Well since he went underrated we could have taken him with our last pick at 45. Too bad he fits a huge need and has talent to help right away. Unfortunately , teams most have been scared to death of taking him. I wonder if he had other problems besides the little info we had on him.

Taking Upshaw 45 would have been a great pick. It looks like the LaKERS got him for SL. I didn't believe he wouldn't be drafted. I like his game and he has elite size and length. I know people eluded to the fact that his problems were worse than reported but I figured if his problems were so bad then we would know more about them/ the story.

Its too dam bad, he could have fit in perfectly talent wise. But if every team passed on him then they have to have some better sources and knowledge than we do.

There are some interesting analytics about the steal being worth 9 points.  I personally can't see how that is possible, but people who have studied it infinitely more than me seem to think so.

Lets compare Mudiay vs Rozier.   Imo similar kind of players. Supremely athletic and can get to the rim at will. Not saying Rozier is better but you get the picture.   Watching the tourney he was ready to be double teamed every second. But also louisville had no choice and needed him to score. Thus his fg was not very good. Still he lead louisville to thr elite 8, which is not easy thing to do

Danny sees more value in rozier and thinks cbs can iron out the kinks in his game.  I got a feeling we got a Barbosa like guy which is going to be a headache for opponents to deal with. I mean gsw had 3 pgs vs the cavs while cavs lost their pg and were in big trouble

Thornton to me is another rozier that will get mins at the d league. If ab, it or smart get injured due to the relentless way these guys play, will be called up.

The IT comparisons are mainly based on how he operates in the paint. He's got the same type of slipperiness that allows him to finish a little bigger than his size.

Hey no one knows for sure what a player is or isn' t going to do but so many debbie downers.    He might prove to be somewhat of a gamble but this is why Ainge has all these picks.  PLus I just like the pick.   I'm not even trolling. I really like what the celtics did this draft.

I still wouldn't trade Smart.  It's a guard heavy league especially with teams like golden state but we kind of are building our own version.

This board is filled with people who have written this draft off. I don't get it.  It was a strong draft for Ainge but time will tell.

I do too. Also Ainge loves combo-y guards. Always has, probably always will.

Well hope DA gets it soon that combo guards need to be taller to excel at both guard spots. Under 6'4 combo guards are horrible.

I was really disappointed with Smarts Ball handling and penetration last year.

I agree.  But Smart's handle has actually never been that great.  In college he bulldozed a lot of smaller players in getting to the rim, but never really showed off any great ball handling skills.  I still love Smart, but yeah Rozier appears to have better skills that will allow him to get to the lane.

I just wish he wasn't so undersized.  So many teams have bigger guards, and we (with the exception of Hunter) have a bunch of really small, really scrapy guards.  Even if he has a good wingspan he is still small and that will create problems matchup problems.

IT 5'10" (generous)
AB 6'2"
Smart 6'2"
Rozier 6'2"

Answer me this.   If  you could have Lawson or a guy like Rozier on a rookie deal who would you take? I'd take Rozier any day of the week.  He could bust but value wise a rookie player with his talent especially since we have other g uards.  We can bring im along.   Trades might need to be made but having Isiaiah, Smart, Bradley, Turner, Rozier, Hunter and Young is not a bad thing.  We have a lot of options and if we want a guard geared lineup ala Golden State we did well this draft. Our team isn't devoid of big men either.  We got a good one this draft too.
