I am surprised and a little bewildered by the draft. Trying to make sense of what DA is doing leads me to think he is building in an area where we might need cover in the future due to trades (involving MS, AB and/or IT) he has organised. I can't imagine though that we are going to trade all of those players and attract quality players, willing to play with what we have left.
Maybe we are going another year with no big action in free agency and seeing what we can build with what we have and what we have acquired (raises questions of playing time or are we trying to win a title for the red claws).
I would like to see what has happened as some part of a grand plan I just can't grasp right now (which is possible). Maybe DA tried to get a better player but, as stated, the cost was too much - why trade proven NBA players like MS, AB or IT for draftees who may not be all that - especially if you are trading a number of players and future picks.
We still have a lot of assets, a move or two in free agency is not off the cards. Alternatively, we take what we have into next season and make our big rebuild plays after we scrape into or miss the playoffs next time around.
I am not sure what will happen and the draft has made me more confused than I was previously. At worst DA couldn't get the deals he wanted and has taken a few chances. Could end up being a poor draft - time will tell. My gut feeling is we won't be a contender until the season after next, always a possibility, and another year will tell us more about the roster.
