I think overall you have to be pretty excited even though Ainge was never presented with the opportunity to move up, as was his intention. Certainly it would have been better to net Jahlil, or Justice, but at the end of the day I'm glad Ainge didn't sell everything for one young player. The fact that he then went and made 4 solid picks based on skill alone reminds me of a bill bellichick draft.
That Mickey kid will be great against small-ball teams, and he could develop into a solid player. Rosier will also certainly develop, he plays SO much like Russell Westbrook did in college (not to put the highest of expectations on the kid) so I was fine with the pick when it went through. RJ Hunter will certainly be a shooting specialist, but the Celtics literally had ZERO floor spacers, so using the 28th on him was a certifiable steal.
I don't particularly agree with the consensus "C" that Ainge has been getting for this draft. Certainly the expectations were self-inflicted but when the Celtics were on the clock, they made good choices. They went for the "best player available" and with a PF & C strong free-agency group you can expect the Celtics to be "in" on many of the top 4 and 5 spot players in the upcoming weeks.
I give Ainge a solid "B". The Celtics got better, and even though they didn't trade up, they still got value out of their picks.
