Like everyone I was confused on the celtics' draft at first but after a few hours of reading and researching it is making sense. I think this draft sets the celtics up for some trades that will make big impacts down the road. The draft picks themselves will be good as Hunter and Mickey will make impacts sooner rather than later. I wanted these 2 with the first 2 picks so I'm not disappointed. Rozier is the wild card but because of him trades are available and they wont hurt the roster as much.

Trade Idea:
Bradley, Olynyk and future pick to the Jazz for Favors

Favors can step in and be that athletic shot blocking center this roster needs so badly. He is redundant in Utah with Gobert being a fraction of the price and their draft pick Lyles being a better fit at PF next to Gobert. The Jazz roster would look something like this:
STARTERS
Exum
Bradley
Hayward
Lyles
Gobert

BENCH
Burke
Hood
Olynyk
Booker

Thats a solid young locked up rotation for a team that has trouble bringing in big free agents. Their roster also becomes more balanced.

For the Celtics, the roster could look like this after the trade.
STARTERS
Thomas
Smart
Crowder
FA PF
Favors

BENCH
Rozier
Hunter
Turner
Young
Sully
Zeller
Mickey

Obviously the rotation will need to be trimmed some but it gives CBS options. I think Smart is better choice to keep on the roster over Bradley due to size, durability and ball handling.

For FA PF's, the celtics could go hard at Love or Harris who would both spread the floor and be primary scorers on a team that lacks one. Love would be ideal but Harris wouldnt be bad and Sully would be a good bruising backup for both. If neither come over, Sully wouldnt be a bad 3rd choice and I think Mickey will be a sleeper and eventual PF starter.

That leaves the team with a need for a stud 2 way wing. Hopefully Young develops into one.

Trade everyone, trade them all. I am done caring for the next week. I think we a little shallow on guards

At some point there's probably going to have to be a reckoning with the Sixers. They have multiple center prospects and we have multiple guard prospects. Some iteration of Noel-Smart seems almost inevitable at this point.

Given that Utah is supposedly high on Bradley a trade centered around Favors and him may also be a possibility.

Great words from a great man

Avery Bradley is a dinosaur compared to every single one of these guards on our roster. He is the only one that is unable to break his man down off the dribble. Ship him out.

The only thing I can think DA was doing is drafting Rozier to trade to the 76's for Noel? I'm not a huge Noel fan however if they wanted Smart and Rozier is basically just like Smart maybe that is what he was doing?

We are going to open the season with 5 point guards as starters.

Throw in Smart and I think it would be enough. I'm sure Utah values Favors just a little less than Cousins. He is very skilled and still pretty young.

I'd go:
Smart, Bradley, Olynyk, and Dallas' 1st rounder for Favors.

Another trade I would do:

Smart and Thomas for Noel and Miami's 1st rounder next year.
