Haven't hated a pick this much since we took Joe Forte over Tony Parker. And that includes the Fab Melo pick ...

It's the worst pick I can ever think of by the Celtics. He might turn out to be good but at the time of the selection I can't think of another time I was more disappointed by a pick.

Some day, it'll dawn on everyone that:

1. Ainge isn't a particularly adept drafter.

2. These alleged "assets" he has "accumulated" have failed two years running to significantly move the needle for this franchise.

All we need to make this night a complete, abject disaster is for Ainge to waste a pick on the Washington druggie in another Fab Melo redux.

Poor Stevens.

You guys are unbelievable. It takes 2 teams to trade. You make it seem like DA sat there all night and did nothing waiting for the 16th pick. Only way for him to move up was probably overpay, and if he did that you would all STILL be complaining.

What does that have to do with Ainge making the worse pick possible?

Seriously, these are guys I would've rather had than Rozier

-Portis
-Hunter
-Tyus Jones
-Justin Anderson
-Rashad Vaughn

Wasn't about the pick at all, was about every one saying "Danny sucks because he didn't trade up" "Unbelievable that DA didn't do anything." It was a response to that.

Don't know what they could do with the second pick to make me angrier. Aaron Harrison?

Ainge didn't promise a trade and then backed away. You guys expected him to make all sorts of trades. You can't cook stories and scenarios in your mind and then be disappointed when they don't pan out.

BS.  We've been led down this BS path 2 yrs in a row.   Fireworks my ass.

Giddens was a late pick and I wasn't expecting much from it.

I don't even... I can't even.

Ugh. Ah well, maybe this means we will get some solid players through Free-Agency :/

I'm trying to spin it the best I can.

I agree. The "ainge didn't promise anything" is a apologist bs in my opinion.

Giddens was the 30th pick in the draft.  It's just a crapshoot at that point.

The "fireworks" nonsense is entitled to get into your pockets, fed by Ainge's PR team writing for this blog.

Portis, Hollis-Jefferson and Anderson were superior picks.

This is just a horrific swing and miss by Ainge, after leading the season ticket pigeons down the primrose path. He accomplishes absolutely nothing tonight to improve this franchise.

Honestly, I ate ice cream after Winslow was chosen. I just didn't gave any Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. anymore.

I agree with this. Ainge did what he has done every year. He basically says everyone is tradable, and then the NBA fan trade rumors happen. Obviously all the other GM's are valuing their picks too much or else Ainge would have jumped on something.

Everyone cool down we have a top tier coach who will get the most out of our picks.

Amen

Amen to you too brother.

TPs duly distributed to all the commenters above.

Please consider two things:

a/ that we drafted a PG is hardly a surprise, the only real surprise is we used our sweet 16.  IT is coming from the bench and ET as a point forward has limitations; Smart and Bradley do not really qualify as ball handlers.
We needed a third reliable ball handler.

b/ if Ainge chose someone who was projected to be drafted 15 positions later, he probably has some reasons. Front offices have  better qualitative information and expertise to the people who make mock drafts.

I'm not saying Rozier will be the new Rondo or anything, all I'm saying give the kid (and our front office) a chance before going all doom and gloom.
