I'll keep this simple, who do you prefer to trade away Sullinger or Olynyk. I didn't put a "both" option so that you're forced to choose between them.

Just gauging the preference pre-draft between those two around here.

My preference is to trade away Olynyk and keep Sullinger. I've said before that I'm a big Sullinger fan, I think he's a legit player. Mild concerns about health/shape and at times motivation. But at the end of the day, when things matter (playoffs), I know that between those two Sullinger is by far more reliable.

The other x-factor is that Sullinger is up for an extension/new contract while that choice is delayed for one more year with Olynyk. That doesn't weight too much on me, pun intended. Sullinger is a year younger also, so there's that going for him.

So, I choose Sullinger to stay.

Who would you trade? I think most around here will choose to keep Olynyk, but curious to quantify it in a simple question.

And yes Celtics4ever, we're all very well aware of the Combine results and Sullinger's poor defensive effort this past season. :)

There are so many variables with these two it's hard to give a straight answer. A lot of it is going to determine on whether Sullinger can actually get fit and whether Olynyk can acquire any sort of consistency in his third season. When on the top of their game, both are quality starters in this league.

Ability-wise I'd say the two are a wash. Sullinger has one elite skill (rebounding), but Olynyk has a combination of skills that's more in demand in the modern NBA. Neither are particularly good at defense but Sullinger at least has the potential to be a bit better on that end if he can apply himself.

If I had to choose today, I guess I'd pick Olynyk if only because we get one more rookie-contract year off of him. Otherwise I'd say we should give it another year to decide.

I think Sully is more tradeable and would get more for him. And with the Love rumors, KO would fit better coming off the bench and being a bigger, but less athletic Love clone. And I think KO fits in Steven's style better. Better shooter, and better passer.

I do like Sully, when he's playing his best he looks like he could be a boarderline allstar, but thats why you move him too, more value so you don't have to give up as much as you do with KO.

BUT, if your looking for one of them to be the starting PF of the future, I'd have to go with Sully, if he can keep the weight off, he'd be better over all.

Depends on the rest of the line up.  At first glance, Sully no question. However, I don't think it makes sense to have a Zeller- KO combo.  It's rare that a player truly changes their work M.O.
Life pattern habits are hard to break. Rarely does a player develop a high motor.
I don't think Cakeboy stays off the desserts for long.  Therefore, I'd dish Sully. He's got the Big Baby gene in him.

See, I didn't want this to get to a point of "I like to trade X player because I think we can get more value off him in a trade", which is all complete speculation. I'm more interested in seeing who you prefer to retain as a player with the assumption that they might have equal trade value and could be interchanged in whatever package is being offered around, if any, in this particular trading window.

Much much much much much rather keep Olynyk. Hes more valuable in Stevens system because hes a legitimate threat out on the perimiter and has excellent court vision and ball handling skills for a seven footer. Im not one of these whack jobs who thinks he'll turn into Dirk Nowitzki, but I still think he can be a really special player for years to come and could easily see him averaging 16/7/4, while shooting 40% from down town. Sullinger also has his good qualites, and will forver be an absolute steal at the 21st pick, but his back issues still worry me, and he just isnt as good a fit for the Celtics as Kelly.

No matter what kind of shape Sullinger gets in for this year, I don't trust him to stay in that shape after he gets a new contract. So considering I don't want to pay him as a free agent, it would be good to trade him now.

Olynyk also fits the pace and space system Brad prefers to run.

I voted to keep Sully, by a hair, I'm really not excited about either. We need an upgrade at PF.

Trade Sully, he has more value and I wouldn't want to deal with deciding whether or not to resign him after this year.

I voted to trade Sully. I'm a big fan, but he's shown enough question marks to make me prefer Olynyk. I think KO fits better with Brad's style and can give you much more with consistent time.

It doesn't matter because we're getting Love for our power forward anyways!  ;D

I come down on this the same way I have for the past year:  They're comparable talents, but Kelly's extra ability from deep, longer rookie deal, and most importantly, fewer chronic injury issues make me prefer to move Sully.

I think Sully is probably a bit better as a player but those injury and conditioning issues worry me a lot.  He reminds me of a more talented, bigger Big Baby, with the same downsides.

I'd be fine with moving both and starting fresh at 4 if it came down to it though.

Trade Olynyk. Keep Sullinger.

Agreed.

I must be missing something that it's even a discussion...

Outside 3-pt shooting is there any one thing Olynyk does better than Sullinger?
