C's are trying to trade the 28th pick for Bennett and cap space to sign kevin love this offseason.  Probably means both sully, wallace and ko will be traded plus picks for someone if we can match numbers.

We drafted James young to bring him along as a shooter possibly as well while we bring back Pierce to retire here and win another championship hopefully.

I think that's where this is headed. Ainge is gonna do everything he can to trade up as far as he can. Then he's gonna flip that pick, his later picks and players for Cousins. Then in FA one of Love or Aldridge. If DA is working to get cap space like the reports say, he must be pretty dang sure were gonna use it.

Strangely enough, the most untouchable player right now seems to be Thomas.

We don't need to clear-up cap space to afford Love. Also Bennett is more expensive than the 28th pick, so that makes no sense.

In what universe does the 28th pick take up more cap space than Bennett?

edit: too slow.

Same here I'm excited.  I hope we can get a big man for sully and ko and keep smart, thomas and bradley but might not be possible with pierce here.

Thomas is on a GREAT contract (it's not only cheap but his salary goes DOWN every season as the cap goes up), and is just about the only guy on the team that isn't either mostly interchangeable with another Celtic or limited enough to be expendable.

Either way it's clear we're trying to land the best big man we can, whether Love through FA, Cousins through trade, or someone from the lotto by trading up.  Danny's trying to consolidate assets while ideally landing a young star big.  It's the right approach, now let's see if it pays off.

I think we are doing the trade to dump some salary so we would include players as well as the 28th pick.  Take back Bennett and clear salary by giving up the 28th pick.

That's not how it works. Minnesota wants to trade Bennett for the 28th to dump salary, doesn't work the other way around. Sorry, but you're far from accurate.

Clearing cap space is not occurring through acquiring Bennett.

IT is the best at his position - 6th man - on this team though. Can argue he was the best 6th man in the league last year. So... we got that spot shored-up, at least. :P

I am very excited to see Ainge begin to allay my anxiety that falling to pick #16 (while the Clips made their run to #28) didn't ruin our chances to make a big splash this off-season.  It's been making me crazy that just a couple of losses down the stretch could have resulted in getting the 11th pick and could be making some of the trade-up talks much easier.

I don't think I'll ever be convinced that the playoff drive this season was worth it.  But --- maybe Danny will start convincing me tomorrow that I've been wrong. Hope so.

as was mentioned multiple times prior to this post, bennett's salary is more than the 28th pick salary!!
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

DA is a genius!  I'm so excited.  DA basically is doing what I wanted him to do.  Just get it done.  Don't deal smart

Starting PG-Smart
Starting SG-Bradley
Starting SF-Pierce
Starting PF-Love
Starting C-Lopez

Bench

Isiaiah, Crowder, Young, Bennett, Jerebko, Zeller, Pressey or Turner?, KO or Sully?  KG??

I don't see why Ainge can't make this happen.  That's a team.  DA has to make this happen.

Just got to get KG and we are set.  Maybe Ray Allen for James Young just to make it interesting.  Ge tthe  band back together.  We cleared cap so we could sign  Love by making those trades.  Now we can get love and the band back together.
