Speculation: Ainge wants both Cousins and Love

From what i know with him trying to acquire Cousins, the 2nd piece to the puzzle is him getting Love. Lopez would be the back up, and isnt looked at as the starter.

If the hammer drops and we can pick up Okafor, and flip him and Sully plus a future first to Sac, it gets the deal done.

We still have room to sign Love, and I believe with the rumors, the lineup would look something like this:

Cousins-Lopez
Love - Olynyk
Pierce - Crowder
Bradley - Young
Turner - IT

This is my speculation, but that team wins ALOT of games. Not too far off from happening if we get that 3rd pick and make Kevin Love know we arent messing around. 1 step at a time though

It's when the 2 high usage guys are both bigs. That is more difficult.

Than say an inside-outside combo that lends itself more naturally to a two man game.

Edit: I don't think it is a factor in convincing both players to team up. I do think it's likely to be a problem in getting full value out of both guys once they are here though. Cousins had pretty much the entire offense run through him in Sacramento. Kevin Love had similar situation in Minnesota. It'll be hard to keep both guys involved at that often when playing together. Often it'll be one guy with the other guy off the ball.

I think that reduces the ability to sign Love. If I were him I'd just take the extra money and stay with LeBron who at least, I know will pass me the ball sometimes. Cousins, though a very underrated passer, is an unknown quantity to him and he'd be taking less money to play with him.

Memphis does well with 2 high quality big men.  P Gasol and A Bynum did fine together a few years back.  Even when we had Shaq with KG they worked great when they played together.  Granted it was with Shaq at the end of his career but in very limited minutes he was still very good.  For a short stretch with both of them starting I remember us dominating.

I'd hate to lose Smart.  How ironic would it be if we signed Rondo to replace him.
