Which means nothing, btw.  LeBron is opting out too.  This has been known for a year.  Just giving a heads up to anyone who reads into this.   They are opting out to sign better contracts.

That doesn't mean he's definitely staying with the Cavs, but it seems to be most likely.

Agreed, to a point. I don't think him opting out is simply about a better contract, that's part of it. I think he'll genuinely explore his options outside of Cleveland.

Lebron is a lock to return to the Cavs, Love is not.

Opting out is better than not opting out for us. At least we're still alive.

I wish I could opt in, all this [dang] money up for grabs!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It means that we will probably have the opportunity to make a pitch for him to come to Boston. If he opted in we wouldn't get to pitch him.

It might not mean a lot, but the likelihood he signs with us just went from not possible to possible (even if there is only a .0001% chance)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't know man, it looks like Cavs are going to do a sign and trade. Originally, everyone was saying Love would opt in and play out another year and wait for the big payday after the CBA. I really think Love is gone after this IMO. Not saying to the celts cause the Lakers have the best shot.

I actually didn't think he was a slam dunk to opt out when season ended. He is presumably still in a sling/injured. At a minimum this probably hurts the Cavs cause I believe it means he can command a higher salary for next year?

TP (because I keep agreeing with you)

Does it make any sense for Love to opt out with the cap increase on the horizon if he is not legitimately looking for a new home? What's the worst case scenario if he stays, he has another slightly disappointing season, but due to to the increase, he gets paid even more money?

I was definitely in the sign and trade boat a while ago, assuming Love would be a good soldier and at least allow the Cavs to get some assets in a trade (since they gave up Wiggins for him). With reports the Cavs are looking for a s&t and Love opting out, the writing seems to be on the wall.

Offer Thomas + Bradley + future pick for him.

Cleveland needs quality role players that can play now - they'd be getting a defender *and* a scorer to support LeBron, while saving money versus resigning Love.

Boston could then flip KO to move up and draft Cauley-Stein as a defensive counterpart. Love would be the perfect front-court mate for Stein, with his rebounding and scoring.

Smart
Young
Crowder / Turner
Love / Sullinger
Cauley-Stein / Zeller

... and we'd still have max dollars to spend on top of it, possibly two max players if we unloaded Wallace.

Can we sign both Lebron and Love? or Lebron+AGG/Cousins?
We will be a contender next season

There's no reason Love can't sign another one year deal. There are a few reasons why he won't be part of a S&T.

Are you saying another 1 year deal with the Cavs? Would that just be to get a few more million out of them? If that is the case it seems like a bad reason to mess up their cap further and not very likely.
