I just read this article and thought it was really interesting. Five of our guys jump into the lottery or farther into the lottery. Kinda feels good... *kanye shrug*

2010: Bradley goes 11th (actually went 19th)

2011: Thomas goes 14th (actually went 60th)

2012: Sullinger goes 6th (actually went 21st)

2013: Olynyk goes 9th (actually went 13th)

2014: Smart goes 4th (actually went 6th)

Stephenson, Turner, and Larry Sanders all before Bradley?  What?

Edit: Mirotic over IT?  Why?

Edit 2: Looking closer, Trey Burke over Noel and Gobert?  WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM

I gotta stop looking at this, it's just awful
I'm bitter.

No way Joel Embiid falls to 11th last year.  I'd pull the trigger on the risky offer of Marcus Smart for Embiid straight up right now.

Watching the 2011 animation really intrigued me.  Out of the 13 lottery picks, only three of them remained in the lottery in the redraft (only kyrie out of the top 9 picks).  Goes to show how landing a top 5 pick doesn't necessarily mean all that much.

Dante Exum still in the lottery?

I don't entirely agree with Washburn's re-drafts, but it does illustrate the point that the scouts and experts never are going to get it completely right.

Don't expect this year's draft to be any different.

This article reads like the ramblings of an out-of-touch Boston homer.  I gave it a quick glance and got out of there.  Waste of time.

I would take Nikola Mirotić over any player on the Celtics hold Marcus Smart. He can shoot, pass, post-up, rebound and dribble. The guy is a stud.

The problem with the premise is that you could easily dedicate 2,000 words to each year, and you'd probably have to in order to do it right (for example Kawhi is only getting all this praise because he was drafted by the Spurs who managed to fix his outside shooting -- in large part because they could afford to develop him at a relaxed pace while still making him earn playing time. That doesn't happen if he goes to Minnesota, and he probably never becomes the quintessential 3 and D guy he is today, or at least not nearly as quickly). That's a hard sell to get people to read, but if you skimp it just comes off as kind of half baked.

I think the redrafts mostly make sense, but I would like to see more rationale.

Expecting Boston Globe guys to know much about the NBA as it is right now, as opposed to the 1980s, is asking a lot.

I certainly don't agree with all of Washburn's placements.  There'll probably never be a consensus on this sort of thing, but, honestly, I don't see what's so "homeristic" about his list.

I'm curious to know where you'd place the current Celtics from their given draft classes on your re-drafts?

Here's a crack at 2011 (which I think was a very interesting draft--lots of really good post-lottery guys in that one):

1.  Kawhi Leonard
2.  Jimmy Butler
3.  Kyrie Irving
4.  Klay Thompson
5.  Nikola Vucevic
6.  Jonas Valanciunas
7.  Chandler Parsons
8.  Tobias Harris
9.  Nikola Mirotic
10.  Enes Kanter
11.  Kenneth Faried
12.  Tristan Thompson
13.  Isaiah Thomas
14.  Reggie Jackson
