I'd give up any three players on the team and a handful of draft picks for Cousins.  He's the best center in the league, he's 24 years old, and he's on a reasonable contract.  He is much, much better than any asset we have on our squad.

I agree. What are the odds that Kevin Love signs with Celtics if Isaiah Thomas and Cousins are both on the team?  If so, I trade Wallace for salary, throw in Young, Smart, Sullinger, and #16.

Problem is, Smart's trade value is maybe slightly higher than Julius Randle.

Pure nonsense. Smart spent his rookie season confirming the potential that got him drafted at 6 (defense). Randle spent his rookie season confirming the concerns that made him fall to 7 (injuries). Not much more needs to be said than that. Smart's trading value is likely significantly higher than Randle's.
Smart was a big disappointment, imo.   I thought he'd have an offensive game.

Randle is still an unknown.  I say they have about even trade value.  Both were more valuable a year ago.

So Noel as a great defensive role player = huge asset, great player, etc.

But Smart as a great defensive role player = chump who will never be more than what he is despite the fact he is only 20?

What a joke.

In fairness to LarBrd33, a defensive big man is more valuable than a defensive guard.  Also, Noel's defensive statistics were bordering on historic (although statistics don't tell the entire story.)

Yeah I really love Marcus i do, but If we landed Demarcus and he had to go i'm sorry but you have to do it. With our Trade Exceptions and cap space we should be able to move on. I have the dream scenario of landing Boogie and getting either LMA or Love.

Yes, yes, and yes. Now I LOVE Smart, but I'd still be pretty happy if we had to include him (almost definitely the only way it would happen) in a Cousins trade.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I say try to keep Smart as he is a special player. Simply give up both Brooklyn picks, 16, Turner, Sully and Wallace.

So in essence, if Smart had torn his Achilles on day one and didn't play a single game last season, he would have higher value than he does now?

That would be the bomb-diggety. I'm tired of small-ball lineups, which only get you so far. Some will point to this year's Warriors to prove me wrong, but even though GS had some success with small ball, they still utilized David Lee and Festus Ezeli quite a bit, as the team got steamrolled whenever Draymond Green tried playing center against legit bigs such as Timofey Mozgov and Tristan Thompson.

I want frontcourt dominance. Now!!!  ;D

There's nobody on this team that's "untouchable" . Marcus does some special things, but I wouldn't be mad at Ainge one bit if he was traded to net something better.

^We are trying to build a championship.  If a player is a part of that I feel I would not trade him.  This isn't fantasy basketball.  I'd like to think we are still trying to build a team not just one player.

What has Cousins done in Sac by himself?  Not much.

Marcus won't be dealt just for something "better".....  He was a rookie last year and people are already questioning his offense.  Some of the best stars in nba history their rookie years it took a bit.

What has Smart done? I like the kid, but are you seriously saying that he's off the table if Ainge had a chance to improve our roster. Obviously Ainge feels the same way because he stated that no one on the team is untouchable and he has a price for everyone. Is he playing fantasy or being a GM?

I think to trade Marcus it would really depend and take something that really makes sense long term.  Marcus was the 6th pick in a stronger draft last year.  He is better than anyone this draft not in the top 3.  Right now marcus makes a lot of sense long term.

I think Marcus's value still is that. He's 21 years old this year.  He was the 6th pick in a strong draft class.  That's his value and is a second year player. So it actually went up.
