Opt-outs-Jordan Hill, Ed Davis and Thaddeus Young

Over the past week, Jordan Hill, Ed Davis and Thaddeus Young opted out and joined the free agency pool.  Hill and Davis bring rebounding and some degree of rim protection.  Young has always struck me  as an offense first power forward though undersized.  At various times over the past few years, I have thought they could help the Celtics. 

With the draft pending as well as the Jerebko/Bass free agency, any interest in any of the aforementioned opt outs joining the fold?

Young opting out is great news. Most likely will not sign back with Brooklyn, in turn making Brooklyn worse. That coupled with the news that it is more likely than not that Lopez will opt out as well almost makes me jump for joy. Brooklyn is headed for a season of tanking for a pick they do not own.

Potentially, but way too early to tell. I'd say Jordan and Davis are pretty low on the list of priorities for the Cs, who I'm hoping will be swinging for a big trade. Then the question is who/what pieces are remaining, and build from there. For Young, it depends on who else is on the market. If its a thin market he could command big bucks. Not sure I'm interested.

Wasn't Ainge interested in Hill in the past ?  Out of those listed, I think he might be target #1.  Good fit as well.

Zero interest in those 3. Thaddeus Young is the only one good enough to crack the Celtics rotation but he isn't good enough that I'd sign him and allow him to interfere with Sully's & Olynyk's playing time and development.

Not only do we have the 2016/2018, but if we are better than Brooklyn in 2016-17 we will have their next THREE 1st round picks.  If it takes them a while to get back to being decent this trade could be a bonanza for us. 

Being able to build a quality playoff team while repeatedly getting a bad team's draft spot is a great and rare opportunity.  But Brooklyn's still gotta do the losing first, of course.

I would not put it past Ainge to sign Davis to a Scal-type contract (cheap and long).

The Nets would likely have $7-8 million in cap space if Lopez and Young both walked.  So slightly better than the MLE, and they also get the room exception, but not enough to replace either, much less both.

With the assumption that they don't offer the QO to Teletovic and they renounce all their TPE's... and even then I think it'll be less than what you're estimating, but we'll see.

In all, I don't think they'll be operating under the cap regardless.

Could care less about Sully and Olynyk's "development." That term drives me insane. It should be about putting the best team possible on the court. I'd be interested in adding any one of these 3 players.

Also, I don't understand the statement about how Young is the only one good enough to crack the Celts rotation. It's not like our team is bubbling with talent right now.

I like all 3 guys.

I think Thad Young would be a great option at either the 3 or the 4.

As for Jordan Hill, I think he'd be a viable option for us at center and like another poster mentioned, DA was interested in him last summer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hill was a target on Ainge's list and rightfully so. Hill averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds last year and quite frankly am surprised the Lakers won't pick up his option.
