He reminds me a lot of like a Rudy Gay and Gallanari mix. I think when push comes to shove, he'll be the best draft propspect in this class just because of his sheer ability to shoot, drive, and just absolutely show no mercy.

Was looking at this article, and agreed with numerous key points.

What do you guys think?

I would love to draft Hezonja if we could move up to snag him. I like Winslow and Johnson, but we need go to scorers. I don't see Johnson/Winslow being those guys, but I can see Hezonja being that guy. Hes also very cocky and reminds me a lot like Paul Pierce's demeanor when he first came to the Celtics.

I myself have the rankings between those three as
1.Mario
2.SJ
3.Winslow

It's definitely not in the majority view on this forum but know you have one supporter for Mario.

He's certainly got a killer instinct and he should be able to score in the NBA. Reminds me a lot of Petrovic. Not quite as talented overall, but similar.

I have a natural tendency to think twice about Euros, especially bigs. But there have been great ones, and I would find it almost impossible to pass on him of he's there at 9 and we trade up.

Yup kind of how I see it. I like SJ more than Winslow, because hes always been a winner. But even the best collegiate players cannot translate their game over to the pros, whereas Mario has all the traits and tools necessary to do so.

From the article:

Quote
"Before practice he's the first one in the gym. After practice, he's the last one to leave," said Joey Dorsey, a former teammate of Hezonja. "And I told him that's what every NBA player does. Every great NBA players stays after and ask coaches questions, go over defensive schemes and stuff like that. If he does that and keeps working on his game, he can be really good."

Hezonja can be a knucklehead with some of his decisions, but he doesn't have a low basketball IQ like other gunners and he's actually talented enough to make his antics forgivable. Most importantly, he works hard off the court and loves the game.

He has a polarizing personality that fans will always struggle to reconcile with his play. At worst, he could be a knockdown shooter in a limited role. But it's his killer instinct that has teams dreaming he could end up being so much more than that.

Hezonja was asked earlier this year if he went to go see soccer legend Lionel Messi play for FC Barcelona. He responded: "Let Messi come to see me." That quote sums him up.

Whether he's a hero or a villain is up to you to decide.

Hezonja reminds me of Peja Stojakovic. A top shooter from spot ups and catch and shoots but limited as a ball-handler which limits his value as a scorer in one-on-one situations and in the pick and roll.

I think he is a guy who can get you 17-20ppg at his peak and hopefully play solid defense. As a 2nd or preferably 3rd option, I think he can be really good.

Not a fan of his handles, but I think drawing a comparison between Peja and Hezonja on that regard is off. Hezonja is quite the superior ball handler and more explosive as well, so I wouldn't pigeon-hole him into a spot-up/catch-and-shoot player. Though shooting off the dribble is something to work on.

I don't know he'll end up being as effective as Peja was as its peak, as he was simply deadly when he could get off a shot, but I think his ceiling is quite higher with all the rest he brings to the court plus explosiveness.

I've only seen him in limited instances, but I think his ball handling and playmaking ability is something he as in him at least at a competent level.

Jonathan Givony from Draftexpress thinks Hezonja is the third best player from the draft. Teams are overlooking him bc he has not worked out in front of scouts like Porzingis has.   He might be still playing in the finals in europe or it just ended.    I don't think he will fly over to perform any workouts between now and the draft

From what I read sounds like a Jeff Green kind of prospect (average feel for game, average handles, disappears at times) but explosive, versatile on both ends . Unlike Green is a very good shooter from the 3 pt line at the same age

His shot reminds me of Carmelo's shot, and they both always look like they're going in.

The lack of minutes / production scares me.

I see the upside, but what's his baseline?

I'm not worried about his minutes.  He's young, its Europe and his team doesn't want him leaving for the NBA but knows he will.  With his great shooting, its hard for me to see how he busts.  I'd say his floor is a high scoring 6th man who you wish would contribute more in other areas.

I would be so happy if we drafted him. Have been saying it for awhile that he has all the tools to be a deadly guy in this league. Hope we can get up to get him.

Hay, guys. Mario is the real deal.
I would be estatic to have another Croat to cheer in Celtics green.
And i know Ainge want him...
One of my friend is scout in one Western Conference team and he said that Boston is very, very high on Hezonja...

If you can get him, you have to right?  I mean bring back Datome and we might not win a championship, but think about Princess Peach.  If we get a white Mario and Luigi on the team, my kids are in for life.
