Wallace and 28 for a conditional pick that they will never get?  This makes me believe they might actually sign 2 free agents this offseason.

Yes, it makes me think we are going for two as well.   

One scenario, I could see us keeping it, is if we trade some bodies to move up with our 16.

Makes sense.  A pick that late is probably not worth anything anyways. You could package it with 16 to move up a pick or two.  Packaging it with Wallace makes sense.  I wonder if we will have trouble finding a taker, though.  Obviously people will assume we will offer it to Philly... But I actually read that Philly wants to go after free agents this summer (they mentioned harris as a target).  They might not want to take our dead salary for such a weak draft pick.  That's why someone started a thread last week that suggested we would need to include #16 to dump the Wallace salary.

Problematic because I think we NEED to dump the Wallace deal and either Thomas or Bradley if we want to have enough money to offer two max deals.

Boston could be trying to move 28 in a trade for a higher pick or future pick so as to avoid drafting too many rookies.

Still, if they use 28 to dump Wallace, Ainge must be pretty dang sure he's going to be using that cap space effectively. I don't think he makes that trade unless he's about 85% sure two high-level FA's would be coming here.

For a year they might - Philly took on a bigger contract last year for a guy they didn't intend to ever play (McGee).

I'm just not sure anyone would take it just to get the #28.  Not a lot of talent around that range this year.

I think the Celts should package the 16th pick with Wallace to Philly.

Getting rid of that cancer of a contract would do wonders for our cap space.

Then I think we are DEFINITELY in the running for either Love, Aldridge OR Monroe AND a 2nd tier free agent as well.

The Wallace contract alone, no way...but that's why it was reported a few months ago that Ainge was willing to include a 1st round pick in the deal.

or you know its a weak draft outside the top 20, plus you have way more 1st round picks in the next few years then you can realistically use. the most positive sign that would come from moving Wallace is that means Danny thinks he has a use for the cap space, since he wouldn't move Wallace just to save money.

I think we should keep the pick and take Terry Rosier. I have no idea why he isn't being talked about in the lottery. He isn't a true point guard (yet) but he has a better chance of becoming a point guard than Marcus Smart. Rozier is very talented and is a very good athlete for a little guy. Also is a big time pest defensively. In my opinion he is more talented than Payne who is a likely lottery pick. The kid has starter potential and all star potential if he can successfully become a point guard. It really confuses me why he isn't more highly regarded.

The C's want to pick in the 8-12 range, get someone they like, and then stash or give non-guaranteed deals to 2nd rounders. Keep in mind if they move up, it's a higher salary slot than #16.

My prediction is basically something like:

#16 + ?? for one of WCS, Turner, S Johnson, Winslow, Hezonga. At least three of those guys will be on the board starting at the 8th pick, and one will probably be there at #10 or #11.

#33 = best euro stash or high-risk guy available

If it is truly about cap space why not just draft someone like Cedi Osman to keep overseas for a season or two.
