Going to Spain next week. Maybe I run into a really talented big man LOL

This was from last friday the 12th. He has already been talking/tweeting with Lemarcus Aldridge . It was rumored that he was talking to 2 free agents from the western conference.
Lemarcus and Gasol would be best off-season ever.

now we just have to figure out if Gasol is over there in spain ;D

I'm surprised nobody's photoshopped Thomas into that pic by now.

According to fans here, he's "dropped hints" about love, Aldridge and gasol.

Come on. How much sway does a backup point guard actually have?  Are teams busting down the raptors door to play with Lou Williams ?

well danny asked him to recruit so that's what he's doing. The attraction isn't thomas, its the ability to add Gasol and Love/Aldridge, setting up the best big man duo in the NBA. Thomas is probably letting them know about Stevens and telling them they have enough assets and picks to add the right pieces around them, Isiah being one of the right pieces.

This is kind of my feeling as well.  I love seeing the chatter, that in itself has some benefit but I just can't get myself even the least bit excited at the prospect that IT will bring in Gasol (or any other top FA).

I also am not sure about how much influence he will have. I guess there is a tiny sliver of optimism for me that his childhood friendships and continued interaction with Love could mean something. There is actually precedent for that in the NBA of players going to play with their former teammates and friends. I think Josh Smith said playing with howard in the past was one of the reasons he chose houston over other teams.

If he is successful the he will get a job sooner in the Front office when retires from injury.

Hey now, Lou Williams is a good dude.

I hate to be a downer but I see 0% chance that Gasol would sign here. It's almost as silly as LeBron will opt out and come to the Celtics. We're thin on talent he'd be leaving Conley and Z-Bo to come play with Smart and Sully? Lol

The argument is that Memphis has reached it's apex with their current core, and that the West isn't showing any signs of slowing down, so it would be comparatively easier to join an up-and-coming Celtics squad that scraped .500 without any good players last year.

The fact that Memphis is, for all intents and purposes, Gasol's hometown is what gives me pause about him leaving. Not the on-the-court stuff.

In relation to the on court stuff, Zebo is like 35 along with Tony Allen and there is a good chance they lose their backup center. You are talking about some really old players to go along with Mike Conley and Jeff superstar Green in a really tough contract. I wouldn't be thrilled to signed a multiyear deal into that if I wanted to win a title (not saying we are a great choice either, just that Memphis is far from ideal)
