I say over, I don't know why people are so quick to discredit this current Celtics team. Post all star break we were the 2nd best team in the league.

I'm ready to be underwhelmed by draft night...which can be both good/bad depending on how these young kids pan out. Seeing that a 41 win squad can make playoffs in the East I'm going to say we're under 47.

We were good at the tail end of last year but many teams were really, really bad already. I expect Indy, Charlotte, and New York to be at least a little better. Not to mention Miami if healthy. I think 41-45 wins with this past year's team plus/minus some parts will be admirable. They're still growing after all.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

This offseason could take so many different turns.

I mean if we nab a stud FA and then put some pieces around him using future picks etc, then absolutely. If we make smallupgrades here and there and basically run it back, I think we could be in the conversation forhave an very outside shot at 48 wins but even then there are so many other factors. (will Toronto implode, will Indiana be good, will Miami keep their 5 together, etc etc,) Also I wouldnt be surprised if we turned a lot of our guys into picks, and we went into next year with 2 top 10 picks but a team that will struggle to win 30 games.

Since I don't see fireworks on the horizon, I'm saying under.

I said under but I think it will be slightly under.  Max upside is 50 in my view, max down side is 36, so I will take the middle and say 43-44 wins.

I say over.

Considering how good we were after the all-star break last year (basically the same time we traded Rondo/Green and starting giving big minutes to Smart and Thomas) and that fact that all of our young guys should get better (to what degree i don't know, but better none the less) this year, it's hard to imagine us not getting at least another 5-8 wins compared to last year.

Especially since we definitely will add talent - whether that's through FA, draft or trades.  I don't know if we'll add a star, but we should see at least 1 or 2 quality additions in the off season.

I'd put the over/under at 43. Our post-ASB success was definitely some positive variance, and 40 wins definitely overrates the team as it was last year. It's reasonable to think we'll be better, but not more than 5 wins better without a big FA.

I think we were 2nd best in the conference, but either way extrapolating from that is probably not a good idea.

I can't pick an over-under til the draft and free agency are over, but with the status quo...we might get to 45 but 48 just feels a little too high.

The way I see it, if our picks are bust and no luck in free agency, we should be a relatively same team going into the start of the season. If our picks do pan out and if we get one or two FA's we would only get better. This might be me being overly optimistic and seeing everything through rose colored glasses.

Since I don't see fireworks on the horizon, I'm saying under.

Agreed.

It's very early right now, a lot of variables for this summer, but I'd ballpark next year at 30-45 wins.  My expectation skews toward the lower half of that range, but I wouldn't blame somebody for leaning toward the higher end.

as-is i don't think this roster would get back to the playoffs next year.  They overachieved and caught teams off guard.
