  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
"People look at players, watch them dribble between their legs and they say, 'There's a superstar.'  Well John Havlicek is a superstar, and most of the others are figments of writers' imagination."

Not sure how cap $ will work out or what the returns would look like in a trade but I would expect the pacers, NO, and toronto to all be interested teams.

A return to the Knicks could be an interesting match if NYC has some free agent money leftover.

I think whoever misses out in free agency and has extra cash are the teams most likely to pursue David Lee as a 12 month stopgap signing.

I would be shocked if Golden State could get something in return for Lee.  He's very expensive, so only teams with Max player cap space can take him on.  The list of teams who will have that, and also will be competitive, could be just one or two.  Any bidding war will be Golden State trying to give up as few assets as possible to move him.

I think the Bucks are a decent destination if they whiff on Tyson Chandler and Brook Lopez.  They'll have the cap room and since every guy on that team is over 6'6" and has like 9' arms, they can probably hide Lee's lack of interior defense.  If Kidd wants to add post scoring (of which they have zero), Lee could be a cheap (asset-wise, not salary-wise) option.

I can see him being paired with Jordan. That would be deadly in the paint offensively and balanced defensively. Maybe Dallas?

Perhaps he'll go to a team that loses a big man in free agency.  E.g the Blazers or Hawks

would've been nice if he could have actually finished one of those layups in the Finals.

we could just take Barnes and Lee off their hands if they don't need them anymore ;)

If the Kings finally trade Cousins, I could see David Lee doing well in Sacramento. He seems like a George Karl type of player. I can't see him playing beside Cousins, though.

I hope he stays in Golden State. He has proven in games 3 and 4 that he can be called upon and provide impact.

They should trade Speights instead of Lee. Now I don't know if Speights' contract will put them under the tax line, but David Lee is a much better, much reliable player.

I would not be surprised if the Celtics give the Warriors a call about Lee, but only if they whiff on everyone else this off-season. Lee's not a scrub he just fell out of the rotation because Green exploded this year. I think lee would work well with IT on the pick and pop and would mesh with Brad's rotations because he is good at fundamentals even if he's a defensive liability. Not to mention he would give the Celtics someone who can score 15-20 points consistently besides IT. Hes not ideal but he would help. Better yet if he was on board he could be used as motivation for Sully to get in shape.

If not the Celtics I could see NY getting him back or Philly taking him just to fill up the cap room. Much like the Celtics, I see teams asking for Lee only after they strike out on other free agents. The Warriors won't get anything back for Lee because he is overpaid, but they can get rid of him.

Lee and a pick for Gerald Wallace. Warriors then stretch Wallace for massive savings next year (roughly $12 mil in payroll cleared).

Celtics turn a non-productive player into a productive one on an expiring deal.

I'm not sure that we are a good direct trading partner with GS, but any deal with us would have to include Wallace. Maybe something like Wallace, Olynyk, Turner, and future 1st for Lee and Barnes. It's the best that I could come up with. Olynyk with his stretch 4 shooting range makes sense for them but Turner's lack of range would probably make them ask for Young instead. I don't think that I would do that deal if they insist on Young.

I actually do too because he's been a good soldier throughout everything thats happened this year, but with him and Iggy, the Warriors are paying $25+ million for those guys to come off the bench. That's way too much.

Plus if they give up Lee without taking money back then they can pay Green the max and not pay the tax. Lee is as good as gone. If only this were the NFL where teams could re-structure their deals...
