I also suspect Kemba Walker will be exposed at some point in his career... dude is pretty brutally inefficient.

I feel like Walker was already exposed this year after a third season of averaging virtually identical stats across the board, except with worsening efficiency with each season.

Quote that is on ESPN front page.

CLIPPERS-HORNETS AGREE ON TRADE
The Clippers will get Lance Stephenson, while the Hornets will receive Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. The trade is on course to be completed as early as tonight.

Barnes' on-court temper and penchant for getting fined, however, constantly irked head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers, who has been looking to deal Barnes for about two years.

Doc thinks Barnes was bad? Wait until he gets to deal with Lance Stephenson!

Course then again Doc did have Rondo on his team for 7 years, so he does have experience with "troubled".

I have to say, I can't wait to see the on-court temper tantrums a CP3/Redick/Lance/Blake/DJ(?) lineup will produce. Couple that with Doc's "utter disbelief at a call" face? The Clippers stand a good chance of being the most unlikable team in NBA history.

Personally, I like the deal for the Clippers. Yes, Lance has issues. But LAC is closer to Indiana in terms of environment than Charlotte is. If he can return to his Indiana form, it's a steal for them.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Not quite sure what to make of the deal but I wouldn't be too concerned with the Stephenson locker room presence. I really don't think players like CP3 and Griffin would stand for any of it.

There are many shades of 'troubled' though. I don't think Doc realizes what he's getting into with Stephenson.

I think it is worth the risk for LAC.  Of course there is risk but this could work our really well for the Clipps for a year or two.

High risk to Doc if LS implodes again, but Clippers are pretenders without such a move.

Could work out great for the Clips if Stephenson straightens out.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Great move by Doc.
2 bums for a guy that *should* flourish on a team as the 3rd offensive option like that.

Clips get best player in the deal and a 'tough guy' to replace Barnes.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'm actually kind of mad Ainge didn't even try to go after Stephenson...

I felt like Stephenson and Smart would definitely get along... They both have fiery attitudes, and tend to do dumb stuff sometimes.  ::)

I mean really? Hawes and Barnes? Was there a pick I missed? Hornets must seriously not wanted Stephenson back at all, and that MUST speak volumes though.

Regardless, Stephenson is a very talented player with potential, IF he can learn to be a team player, and not a ME first kind of guy. Chris Paul and Blake definitely own the team, but without Jordan, the Clippers are a first round playoff exit.

I guess the idea of Stephenson, and the fact the Clippers gave up players they didn't even need, might intrigue Jordan enough to at least try to stay. I'm pretty sure this has some added benefit of a higher chance of Jordan returning.
