The Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls have also expressed very high interest in Justin Anderson, according to league sources.

Justin Anderson still has several workouts planned, but heard Lakers informed him if he's unlikely still available at 27, they'll draft him.

He def won't be there at 27.   I'm ok with Anderson at 16.  NBA ready.

Bulls trying to get insurance in case Butler walks.

There's a Justin Anderson available for a reasonable price in free agency basically every season.  What's more, that type of player can be drafted in the late 1st / 2nd round and coached into a good system player.

The Celts have to go for upside.  Not another Jae Crowder.

There are players like Reggie Bullock , Crowder you can get or the next Jimmy Butler.

Anderson is a big strong player for a 6'6 guy.  He could prob reach 240 without losing much quickness, athleticism.   His 43 inch max vertical though is one thing that is not too common for a guy his size

It's like Lebron who is 250 pounds and can jump close to 40 inches.

Not saying Anderson is remotely at the level of Lebron but he has enough bulk, ability to jump, quickness and athleticism to do many things on the court/guard multiple players. Add the 3 pt shot.  I do believe the Rumors the Celtics are interested

It could be an option between Oubre and Anderson at 16. And if they are both gone, someone else good drops unexpectedly

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
We need to go with high upside guys, not NBA ready guys with less upside. If we went with him at 16 I would not be happy. I'd be fine if we traded up from 28 to draft him, but not at 16.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Funny, I was actually just coming on here to ask if people thought JA was a reach at #16.  Apparently, feelings are mixed (much like mine).

Also coming to ask if Dakari Johnson is a reach at 33, but that's a question for another thread.

Johnson is a reach at 33. Johnson is good at 45

I would rather pick Anderson at 16 than to give up substantial assets to move up to pick Stanley Johnson.

Combine #s:

SJ:  6'5" w/o shoes.....  6'6.5" w/ shoes....  242 lbs...  6'11.5"wingspan...7.5 body fat

JA:  6'5.25".................6'6.25"................231 lbs.......6'11.75"...........5.0 body fat

Anderson's 43 Max Vert.....Johnson....didn't participate

Yah, I get the age difference with Johnson being 2 1/2 years younger, but when does potential, with which so many are enamored, become outweighed by the ability to contribute more effectively and efficiently right now and for a substantial while?

Johnson has great D potential, we're told. Anderson, already plays great D.

Johnson's 3 pt shooting will get better. Anderson's, through busting his hump, improved dramatically last year, and is better than Johnson's. Maybe Johnson will potentially get there.

Anderson is a take no prisoners competitor. His Cs workout against RHJ was a "bloodbath" according to A. Ainge. Maybe Stanley will gain that killer instinct, too. Maybe not.

I like Anderson. Never understand why they put him so low in the first round.
This guy look like a mini griffin.
I love his warrior spirit, definitely a potential Celtics. Fans would love him.

Butler can't walk because he's a RFA and the Bulls have already said numerous times they will match any and all offers...

What makes you think he lacks upside?

46% from 3 last season combined with that explosive athleticism and strong defense is more than just a little enticing.
