Hinkie pointed out that a year ago, while some had said it would be a 4- to 6-month recovery from surgery to repair the navicular bone in Embiid's right foot, that he had a more conservative estimate, at that time, of up to 8 months.

Embiid had the surgery on June 20, 2014, which makes it more than 12 months and there are still issues

Timetable keeps getting longer and longer ... And there are still problems!

Reminds me a bit of Sam Bowie in Kentucky (who was much more talented than Embiid) and his body just not healing the way doctors thought it should and had to sit out that 2nd year in a row because his body wasn't ready in time. Slow healer.

You're crazy if you think Sam Bowie was a better prospect than Embiid.

There's always the idea that he was taken with a higher pick than Embiid and, you know, Michael Jordan. I don't really think it is an outlandish statement.

As for Embiid, hopefully he will be ready to play next season. When a player ends up just sucking, that is one thing; however when a player's career goes the way of Oden or Bowie, it just seems unfair.

Sam Bowie's stats in college were not nearly as good as Joel Embiid's. Who cares where he was drafted? He wasn't as good of a player as Embiid.

Embiid Per 40:

19.4 Pts, 14 Reb, 2.3 Ast, 4.5 Blk, 1.5 Stl

eFG: .629
TS%: .655

Bowie per 40:

18.6 Pts, 12.2 Reb, 1.9 Ast, .7 Stl, 3.2 Blk

eFG: .522
TS%: .568

Embiid was the consensus #1 pick before the injury came out.  I dont think its an outlandish statement either, but using the draft order as a way to defend it is a bad idea
