I've been thinking about this recently, and usually when there is smoke there is fire.

Let's order some events.

1- Middle of the playoffs Woj shares a story saying Boston is still a darkhorse location for Love
2- Sometime after Blakely comes up with this story (that we all laughed at) that Danny may overpay Mathews for LMA.
About a month later
3- LMA puts his home in Portland for sale.
4- LMA is in Boston visiting (For what purpose we don't know)
5- IT comments on a tweet of LMA
6- Now all of a sudden Danny isn't interested in Kevin Love.

I don't think it's a big stretch to come to this conclusion, but is Danny not interested in Kevin Love any more because he knows something he can't say about LMA? Is there some type of agreement that's been made behind closed doors that will have LMA in Green next season?

This all seems pretty plausible, but then again, what do i know?

I don't think Danny is not interested, it's just he has more options this summer to make a splash. Of course, all the stuff you mentioned will probably play a part. With his injury this year as well, I see Danny just being very careful of what kind of contracts he is throwing around.

We have a different team compare to last summer.
So my simple guess is different team = different plan.
Or to be optimistic, DA already has a lock with someone else.

I read the Article and my immediate reaction was that this was something put out by the Celtics to diminish the appearance of their interest, but not their actual interest.  My guess is that Ainge is salivating at the possibility of getting Love w/o having to trade away his assets.

Any similarity between the sequence of stories found in the media and the sequence of events actually occurring in the front office is purely coincidental.  Especially with a front office that's as low-leak as ours appears to be.

But if we really were recently interested in Love but not any more, I'd guess it's because we've heard he's not interested in coming here, or would want something goofy like a 1-year opt out so he could get another deal at the bigger 2016 max.  I don't think any alternative to Love, like Aldridge, would be such a sure thing at this point that we'd throw all our eggs in that basket.

He's still interested, just this year its Love's desicion to come here, rather than Danny's decision to pull the finger on a trade. Also there are quite a few more options available this year in FA.

if you believe you are one of the three teams LMA is strongly considering, it makes sense for Ainge to signal that he's backing off another FA who plays the same position.

Im assuming you are referrencing the article which contains the quote
Quote
Danny Ainge still has affection for Love but it's not nearly the borderline obsession that was in play last summer

Hes still interested, there are just many more good available players this summer and many more question marks around love.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I'm sure he is still interested in K Love, probably even more than last year since he won't have to trade players or picks for him.  He just can't express interest because of tampering rules.

I don't think Danny's interest in Love has changed one iota.  I think that story was pushed to a) remind other GM's that Ainge has a host of options leading up to the draft, and b) to help stop the rampant Love speculation in the middle of the NBA finals.  Maybe also c) to limit fans disappointment if Love isn't a Celtic next year.

But yeah, I don't think after watching Love go for 18/9/3 in his three healthy games vs. a C's team that got manhandled in the post  in the playoffs that Ainge thought "Gee, I don't want this guy." That's silly talk.

LMA was in Boston for a Kevin Hart performance, as was Tony Parker. It's suspected that the two enjoyed the performance together. Aldridge is going to San Antonio, not Boston.

Ainge is still interested in Love. You're reading into all this "Entertainment Weekly" type news. It's OK, the boredom gets to all of us

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.
