Last year's draft was really good already.

Stauskas is the only guy who legitimately looks like a bust after one seasom.

He was really high on my list for Celtics drafts ........I screwed up .......again  ;D.......I was for picking  Fab Melo ....worst pick ever  ::)

 ;D

Soooo here I am supporting Upshaw .......I gotta be right eventually.

I think Smart is going to show us this year why he was right up their with Wiggins and Parker in the draft .

Last year's draft was really good already.

Wiggins had one of the best rookie campaigns in a while, I think.

Smart was a starter on a playoff team and is already posting starting caliber defensive stats.

Elfrid Payton looks like Rondo 2.0.

Guys like Gordon, Exum, Vonleh, etc. we knew were gonna take time.

Late finds like Jusuf Nurkic, Rodney Hood, KJ McDaniels, Jerami Grant, Jordan Clarkson, etc. all looked impressive for significant portions of the year.

Jabari had a really good half season for a rookie. If he can stay healthy, I predict quite confidently that he'll be a perennial All-Star.

While injuries to Embiid and Randle do warrant concern, that doesn't mean they still can't be really good players - maybe even All-Stars.

Saric has also yet to come over, along with other Euro prospects.

Stauskas is the only guy who legitimately looks like a bust after one seasom.
Also, LaVine had a good last month or so.  I'd even add Capela who I thought was too raw to get any playing time.

Lets give it a few years before we come down to conclusions. The 2014 draft certainly disappointed due to all the hype, but to say its garbage is kinda hasty. We still have yet to see Joel Embiid or Julius Randle, two of its top prospects, play a single NBA game. Marcus Smart, Aaron Gordon, and Jabari Parker all missed substantial time this year and remember, they were rookies. Rookies seldom take the league by storm in their first year. Wiggins definitely lived up to the hype (in fact I think he exceeded expectations) but his team still sucked. Exum and Stauskas are a bit troubling but again, they are rookies.

Remember in 2013 when people thought that was going to be one of the worst drafts of all time? It turned out to have the Greek freek, Gobert, Noel, Oladipo, and Carter-Williams. Not to mention guys like Len, Porter, McLemore, McCollum, Adams, Dieng, Muhammad, Zeller, KCP, and even Olynyk look like they'll have nice careers in the league as time goes on. Pretty good for a draft that didn't have high expectations especially since its #1 has sucked.

You know who won the ROY in 2009? Not Blake Griffin or James Harden or Stephen Curry. It was Tyreke Evans, and if you look at the draft now and who was taken then, it's debatable as to whether or not Evans was even amongst the 10 best players taken in that draft. Heck from what I remember, Brandon Jennings was Evan's competition for the ROY back then. Those guys are good players, but they aren't great. Griffin, Harden, and Curry all came up a few years later.

The point is give the draft some time after 1 year. You never know if the 2014 draft has a Rudy Gobert lurking in the trenches.

Way too early to call the 2014 draft "garbage."

All drafts are garbage after the first year.  We're dealing with (mostly nineteen and twenty year old) rookies here.  It takes a little time.

We should all be aware of that by now.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I usually wait 3-5 Years to completely rate a draft

Every draft would considered garbage as they are just rookies still learning and some don't even get playing time their first year

For sure you have to like Wiggins future Parker if he stays off of the cheese burgers. But Aaron Gordon at four and exum at five? That just seems really weak and someone posted we could have got the effects from the Kings in a Rondo trade but who would we have taken the best player was Peyton another point guard Dario Saric the draft and stash? terrible draft I would bet money that this draft will be better. And I like smart I do but number 6 and we did well in that draft. Usually there is more talent. If we had #6 this year a lot more options.

How can you judge a draft after one single year? You've given no one the chance to develop and grow.
These players are humans, they think, and learn, and grow bigger and stronger.
It's not a video game.

What are you talking about 2013 was even more garbage. How about A Bennett, victor O, Otto porter, Cody zeller, can you honestly tell me that's not garbage at 1,2,3, and 4. Horrible.

Bennett should've never been taken 1st overall, it's not his fault Cleveland was dumb enough to reach for him there. He's been disappointing for sure, but it wouldn't seem so bad if he was taken in the 6-10 range like he should've been. Since there was no clear cut "first tier" that year, I think Cleveland just took a stab in the dark. I remember at the time, they were saying if Smart came out as a freshman he probably would've been #1. That poor kid had expectations heaped on him he never should've had in the first place

Oladipo is a good player. If you've never watched him, and I guess you haven't if you think he's garbage, he's pretty good. Best player the magic have not named Vucevic. Way better pick than Gordon at 4 the next year. Prototypical combo-guard who's jumper is improving, he could be a fringe all-star in the future. Porter Jr even came on this year backing up Pierce. He really started to get some consistency toward the end of the season, I wouldn't write him off yet. And Zeller is what he is, a decent back-up PF who Charlotte (typical for them) reached for. He wouldn't have been top 10 last year or probably this year.

I think your really mis-judging these past few draft classes. Everyone has this idea that if you have a pick in the top 10 your supposed to get an all-star and it just doesn't work that way. The LeBron's, Davis' and Duncan's of the world are very few and far between, even the guys a tier below them. And in today's age where guys come out at 18, 19 or 20 years old those sure thing, franchise altering stars are few and far between. Just in last years class, based on ONE season in the league, Wiggins and Parker look like corner-stones. Smart looks like a perennial DPOY candidate with huge upside. Most drafts have AT LEAST two or three guys in their top 10 who wash out of the league after a few years. This years will too, and personally I think Mudiay, Porzingas, Hezejona, Turner and even WCS (the latter three I still wouldn't mind seeing us draft) have real bust potential.

No I'm not. I know victor o can play because I am the best like the Zohan. That's a sorry top 4 I would have taken Noel #1 even with the knee injury but then again I am the best and Cleveland sucks.

I agree it's too early to rate last years draft, BUT I will say that this years draft seems to have a lot better players in the 7-11 range than last years...

Exactly.  Some ppl are already calling Aaron Gordon a bust.

Be a little patient

Anthony Davis didn't even have a "great" rookie season, if we're being honest; Lillard was the unanimous Rookie of the Year for a reason.

Gordon better show something, anything actually, this season. I don't think Orlando knows what position to play him at. Which, along with his awful shooting, is one of his biggest problems. Body of a SF, game of a PF/C.

No one should ever judge a draft until at least 3 years out. There were a ton of injuries this year, as well as a lack of production from guys who were considered projects coming in (for example no one should have expected anything from Aaron Gordon in his first year other than flashes of potential).

A learning rookie season isn't going to prevent any of last year's picks from reaching their potential.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
