This is the type of free agent that the Celtics would be wise to avoid. He's going to be 30 next year and is coming off injury. That being said he's a Texas guy. Who wouldn't want to make every last dollar possible? It just so happens that 2 out of the 3 Texas teams can afford him at the same price the Celtics can. There is no reason why he would pick cold Boston over warm San Antonio or Dallas with no state tax. Other than he doesn't want to compete in the West. If that part is the case then why would people want him here anyways? Do you think Larry Bird would have left the Celtics if the East was stacked out of its mind back then? Its a trick question. Guys like Bird, KC, McHale, Parish, Russell were gamers. Paul Pierce was a gamer. Danny Ainge was one as well, which is why I don't understand why he's going for someone that could be the next Wilkins signing. Is LMA washed up? No. But by year 3 he probably will be well on the back 9.

He's a Spur however. All that needs to happen is the official press conference. Why leave Portland if you were going anywhere else but home?

The only way the Celtics will sign free agents is by overpay to offset the taxes and the lack of endorsements and the craptastic weather.

This is one thing I've never understood.  Yes the weather in Boston in the winter sucks!  But, wait for it, they play basketball during the winter so what does it matter!  They have most of the summer off to enjoy themselves where ever they desire.  That weather argument is getting old, fast!

And the travel schedule is so insane you end up being in your 'hometown like half of a week!

I was in Boston for the first time this past fall .

I'm a laid back person .   I really really liked Boston .

Now for a single dude like James Young it might be a tad boring , I can understand that.  I like a nice quiet beach , where I live compared to a Miami Beach setting now that I'm middle aged.

But,  Aldridge. Is not a KID anymore .   He is of,the age where a Nice , Clean , historic city might make sense to raise a family or grow out of the glamor Kardashian world .

Aldridge seems more level headed and private .....the type that might enjoy Boston ....he could find peace and quiet , and be a local hero type guy.

It's a good city practice your professional craft , without all the distractions CP3 and Blake Giffin seek.

Exactly. KG has had a home in Malibu since 1997. On the other hand, if you don't like cold weather it is a strike against Boston. A fairly minute one, all things equal, but still something to consider.

Hey, LaMarcus, Boston isn't that cold, really. I mean we hardly get any snow....

That's why it is a good thing that Aldridge is coming to Boston in the summer. It's not like Portland weather is that great either.

I'm an LA guy and I tell all my fellow Bostonians here- avoid California (specifically Southern California). Weather is blazing hot even in the winter, lack of water, and ya have to deal with seeing people wear garbage colored tanks such as purple/yellow or red/blue everyday!

I love Boston. The air is so much cleaner.

give that guy a tommy pt.

when your talking about summer/fall the Cape & Islands are as nice as anywhere in the world.

take it from me, a vagabond surfer, from July - Sept you'd much rather be on Marthas Vineyard than in Malibu.  or anywhere in california for that matter.  weather is nicer, water warmer, people friendlier, beaches cleaner etc etc.

Technically, San Diego blows MV out of the water every day of the year, but they don't have a team so I'll grant it.  LA is too much like a desert for my tastes

its funny because, for the all the beach scenes socal is known for, outside of SD the ocean tops off at like 63 degrees and is basically un-swimmable.  sure, it doesn't snow in the winter, but come summer all the beaches get fogged in & the runoff is constantly polluting the water.

after traveling around a bit, I come back and feel people sell short the Cape & Islands to an extent.  I prefer the clean crisp Atlantic ocean air and open beaches of MV, especially in Aug & Sept when the water is upwards of 70.

if I was a baller, had a few mill to drop on a house --- I'd get one of those nice places out on the Cape with a lot of land and private beach access.  eff those socal mc-mansions built right on top of one another.

From the Knicks side, do you think they value Sully so highly they'd give up #4?
I'd think they'd want an All Star back in a win-now deal, if they part with that pick.

I think they would want a future pick instead of Sully or Young but that deal seems to be on the right track.

Yeah if we got a big name PF, then Sully makes no sense to keep around.  If we could get the #4 pick and free up minutes for the new FA PF at the same time, then they can have  any other pick of ours they want.  They can have the 2018 BK pick if we're getting Mudiay or Russell, I mean come on.  A bird in the hand is worth it.

Mudiay / Smart / Mathews / LA / Whatever Center we can get
Bench: Isaiah, Zeller, KO, Bradley, Pressey

That just looks like such a pipe dream team though, I can't see it happening
