On top of the alarming off-court issues, a medical issue in his heart has been identified by Doctors at the combine. Tough luck.

Terrible news for the guy. He's likely not going to be drafted at all now and has to have legit concerns about his short and long term health

With no clear description of the issue though, it makes you wonder if it's cocaine related heart damage.

bad news, but not unknown. other docs have spotted this earlier. i wonder if the nba docs will see something different.

this also raises the question of whether or not THIS was a key in so many GMs dropping upshaw on their draft list, combined with his history of being kicked off 2 teams.

it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

This takes him out of the first round and it makes him available at #33 and even possibly at #45 IMO.

IF the docs clear him to play basketball, then maybe.

Ok I kinda wanted to get him with our 28 pick but now don't want to draft him
Too many red flags
Better off draft and stashing an international player than drafting him

On the plus side, at least the doctors found the heart problem early rather than have him die on the court

Wow. This is a real shame. I was hoping we'd go for Upshaw with 16 or 28, but now I'm not sure if he's even worth it at 45. While this is a terrible discovery for Upshaw's immediate future, it's important to maintain perspective and realize that a discovery of this nature could ultimately save his life. Here's to hoping the issue turns out to be nothing, both for the sakes of the Cs and Upshaw.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

This appears to be nothing... simply precautionary. No evidence a significant problem exists, and whatever abnormality it is seems to have been previously identified. I think this works in our favor, if anything...

Some street drugs can affect the heart in a negative way too.

You need to take a lot of drugs to have it effect your heart.

What a shame, this kid needs a break and can't get one. I'm still rooting for him.

I'm one of (and probably the only one) who's pushing for us to pick him at #16. I hope he gets cleared to play, but this doesn't really help his draft stock. I would still pick him at #16 if he does.

Wonder if Len Bias's family feels this way.   I am guessing not!  I think you either do not know what your talking about or your trying to be deceptive.  Which one is it?

Wow...someone has their panties in a bunch.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

After Len Bias and Reggie Lewis, we will be the last franchise to take a chance on a guy with drug abuse history and heart problems. The celtics will not pick Upshaw.

I'm on board with this insanity of taking him at #16
