First year since Bulls beat Jazz in 98 that Duncan, Kobe, or Wade not in finals

Thought that stat was interesting.  Every single season since Jordan retired the 2nd time one of those three men has been playing in the finals until this season.

Yeah, for all the gnashing of teeth that goes on around here on the merits of various strategies for winning, a lot of it boils down to "luck into an all-time great and be smart about providing a supporting cast."

Here's another stat: in the last 35 years, a grand total of 9 different teams have won NBA championships. Everyone else has whiffed completely...over and over again.
