That will end when Duncan is gone.   Pop would tell you , his success is based on Tim Duncan.

The Spurs' success has been based on a lot more than Duncan--and I bet it will continue without him. He's not been at his peak for some time anyway.

I think LMA could start at center, and play there for at least 20 minutes a night.  Get a backup center who can play 20+ minutes a night (e.g. Asik) and you could manage a quality 3-man rotation with Dirk and LMA and the C.

I know I know, it's not possible, two TOTALLY different situations...but man, Aldridge signing in San Antonio almost doesn't seem fair.  I have all the respect in the world for the Spurs as a franchise and what they've done for almost 20 years during the whole Duncan era, but good God am I getting sick of them.  Every franchise needs to take their lumps in a rebuild and it's about time the Spurs took their lumps.

Yeah, they're not benching Dirk, or Aldridge for that matter.  They'd start them together and bring a C in for Dirk early.

Judging they draft in the 20s each year, difficult to do better than them.
Not sick of it, I respect their talent at scouting and picking always a talented player or the right fit to get better each year.

Aldridge has publicly said he doesn't like playing center.

Yeah, they're not benching Dirk, or Aldridge for that matter.  They'd start them together and bring a C in for Dirk early.

Dirk has already talked about the possibility of coming off the bench.  If it is best for the team, he would surely do so.

Which is why he's probably unlikely to sign in Dallas.

If San Antionio does sign both Leonard/Aldridge, Cs should try to sneak in and see if they can grab Splitter. Whiles he's no Aldridge, he's a solid big man that could be had for much less.

They could sign Aldridge and Leonard to max deals, but would be Duncan and ginobali are retiring or playing for the vet min...

More likely means one would be retiring.  They'd have about $6 million in cap room if both got their respective maxes (as long as Leonard signs last).  Manu made $7 mil last year, so $6  mil wouldn't be a crazy paycut.  If they move Splitter, they could probably keep both.

I'm not sure Splitter does much more for us than Zeller does. I'm content on not losing any assets on Splitter while we have Zeller. Unless, of course, SA needs to send splitter our way to make room and they attach some sort of pick.
