First of all TP's for any good NBA player comparisons To the Stanimal Stanley Johnson. He didn't do vertical jump measurements and that's the only concern I have of this kid, that he appears to be an incredible athlete, but the knock is him finishing over length at the rim, And he appears to need a head of steam to dunk. Remember he's 6'6" 242 pounds so that is very rare, but his combination of Speed Strength and quickness that isn't seen that often. All I can think of is Artest, who Stanley is a better athlete than, and Deng who was 220 pounds when drafted but they have the same wingspan, and Deng vertical numbers were not impressive 27.5 standing vertical 31.5 maximum, But you never thought of Deng as not an athlete. I'm sure Stanley's numbers are better than that.

Here is what Stanley Said about the Celtics.
Knowing he's likely to go before Boston's current first pick (No. 16), Johnson said he felt legitimate interest during a meeting with the team's brain trust.

"That's always a possibility for any team that's in the draft," he said. "If they're interviewing me, obviously they have interest in me. So wherever I may fall at, or wherever I'm at, they probably want to get me. It's up to them and their front office to decide those decisions. In my opinion I think it's definitely a possibility for them. It would be awesome if it could (happen). If it doesn't, it is what it is."

2. Executives around the league continued to express belief that the talent level in this draft falls off before the end of the lottery. One front-office figure whose team will pick in the middle of the first round said he hopes another organization does "something dumb." By his estimation, that's the only way his team will get a player it truly likes.

3. Johnson's former college teammate, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, should go somewhere in the mid- to late-first round. He might go earlier than expected if teams listen to Johnson's scouting report on him.

"Fiercest competitor," Johnson said. "One of the best teammates you'll ever see. One of the most athletic players you'll ever see. One of the hardest workers you'll ever see. One of the best defenders you'll ever see come through here. He really wants to be great. That's what he's about. So whatever he doesn't do well, I guarantee you when you see him again -- a year or a month later -- he'll be better at that."

Both Johnson and Hollis-Jefferson exuded confidence in their defensive abilities. The latter prospect said he thinks he can guard an opponent's No. 1 or 2 perimeter option "immediately."

Love his game, at worst he is a less athletic, but better defending Jeff Green. He has the potential to be a #2 or 3 on a contending team in a few years.

I'd trade one of sully/ ko, #16 and a future 1st to get this kid . him and Smart would be lock down defenders .

That's way too much to trade for a guy you would hope at best becomes a #2 or 3 and should be going in the 10-14 range in the draft.

TP. He's the guy I want in the draft since I think trading for WCS (projected at #6 with SAC) would cost much more. KO/Sully + 16 + future first is fair if he does fall to #8 (Detroit is shopping) or possibly farther. I would do this trade on draft day since he COULD be taken earlier. Maybe come #8 call Detroit and tell them to draft Johnson and then pull the trigger.

Smart, IT
AB, Young
Johnson, Turner
KO/Sully, McCullough (#28)
Zeller, Mickey (#33)

Even with Wallace not being moved that rosters salary is around $42 mil leaving room for 1 max FA. Could also shop other pics and Turner but I think we'd keep those assets.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Well the thing is sully doesn't have much value because of the weight issues and injuries. Plus he will be a free agent next year so even if he drops weight and has a good year, you are going to have to pay him 10mil+ next off-season .

The way I see it is the other team is trading down 8-10 slots . I wouldn't give away any of the brkl picks, but would consider the Dallas pick . We can't use all these picks anyway, so if Danny identifies Johnson as a potential all-star he will have no problem making this type of deal.

nyloncalculas.com has a cool prospect comparison tool that can be weighted towards size, athleticism, or statistics.

His numbers from his freshman season compare most favorably to Paul Pierce from his sophomore year. His comparison rating is one of the highest I've seen for any prospect on there.

He also compares decently to Lamond Murray, Paul Pierce (freshman year), Carmelo Anthony, Jamal Mashburn, Marcus Morris, Joe Johnson, Luol Deng, and Antoine Walker.

That is the most good NBA players that I've seen in the top ten of a 2015 prospect, according to his comparison tool.

Each of these guys were big, strong forwards who could score in multiple ways. In fact, I think Johnson is one of the most versatile scorers in this draft.

I like Stanley Johnson a lot. I think he is under the radar right now because of Winslow's run in the tourney and the intrigue of international guys like Hezonja and Porzingis.

Plus he helped win 4 straight California state titles in HS, and made it to the elite 8 his freshmen year. The kid has winner written all over him. He should be our main target.

Looks like his mom is the reason he's so awesome. She set up a whole basketball leauge around him at  years old. Used to make him dribble blinfolded, and tie his right hand behind his back to dribble, make him eat left handed everyrhing. Smart Mom. She played hoops too. Was really good.

They need to go get this guy. Will be the best player on the team by year 3.  His physical dominance is hard to describe unless you watch him game in game out because he hasn't completely harnessed it.  It like a smaller lebron or bigger bledsoe.

Joe Johnson and Stephen Jackson are interesting comps.  He's often compared to Ron Artest.

I think Artest makes the most sense.  The way he moves, etc...

He has a long ways to go before he can handle the ball like Joe Johnson.  Joe is a great ball handler and Stanley has some work to do there....

Physically and the way he moves, shoots he kind of reminds me of Joe.  But yeah, lacking in the ball-handling and creation areas compared to Joe.
