I don't know what to expect from the kid but am looking at next year as if he were a rookie.
Given his skill set and year of intro to the celtics system I'd expect he's more prepared to contribute than most rookies.
I'm not going to say he's ready to take off but expect a decent showing.
Say 10 pts, 3 rebounds 35% from 3.
What say ye?
Over?
Under?
About what you expect?
What would he need to produce I order to exceed expectations?

Good Topic, I know he's still young, but I'm expecting much more than last year for sure. He now knows exactually what to expect in the NBA, it should be no surprise that he needs to get stronger and add 7-10 pounds of muscle. He knows what's expected of him on the defensive side too. (watch some film) He should be expanding his skills, ball handling, shooting, get to the hoop, etc. He is a pro now, basketball is his vocation, time to work hard in the off season.

I'm expecting at least a rotation player that continues to show a high up side and continues to show more and more. We should see a potential starter. When he enters the game he should look like he belongs.

9-10 points a game sounds reasonable, improved ability to get to the rim, help on the boards, with a look of simply more confidence.

If by mid season he's still not defending well enough to be in the rotation, and just chucking 3's...not showing growth, we have a problem.

I think overall his numbers will be lower than that. But I think he will put together stretches of really strong play that will give us glimpses into what he will eventually become.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

With James, the only over/under I'm concerned about is 15 mpg.

With the current depth at the 3 and his inability to guard 1s and 2s... I'm going under.

So far he can't guard any position.
That's one of the improvements he's going to need to make in order to see floor time.
But "depth at 3?
Crowder? Should be a role player off bench on good team?
Turner? Is a guard
Who else?
If we make no trades we have Bradley and turner at 2 and crowder and turner at 3
That should give him the opportunity for 15min/game.
I fully anticipate one of smart, Bradley, turner or IT to be traded.
He could be the back up 2 to start the season.
That

my expectations are that he come into summer league playing hard and showing he's one of the best players on the court.  in training camp/pre-season that he shows he's learned how to play some D and that his shot is more consistant --> ideally he shows he should be on the Boston bench this season instead of Maine

On a related note:
Is a d league assignment for a year or two of the same value as the draft and stash euro league tactic?
D league allows for close monitoring, stints in the bigs and , at least with the red claws, system integration.
Euro league has more competition, better d?...

Judging young on stats will be virtually meaningless.  Any nba player can get stats if they play.  The question is, can be earn playing time.

Setting numbers aside I think a likely progression for him is something like Gerald Green's rookie season, where he mostly sits on the bench or in the D-League, but has a 5-10 game stretch where we plug him in and he shows that he can score at the NBA level (but still not do anything else including defend).

I think anything less than that would represent a significant disappointment. I'd be pleased with more.

I think unless he learns how to play defense he's doomed for another year of D-League action with little to no playing time in the NBA.

Really expecting very little from Young. Would rather he surprise me than to expect him giving actual production to this team next year.

I'd set the over under at

60 games played
15 minutes per game
6 points
2 rebounds
1 assist
40% FG
35% 3P
70% FT

I think he'll have a role, but it will be inconsistent and fairly minor, but my hope is that he'll have a handful of games that give us a sense of what he might be able to do (not just scoring in double digits in garbage time).
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.
