If Tristan Thompson  has a big impact vs gsw , i expect love not to be resigned.

You realize it's Love's choice, not the team's decision, right?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

WHY? Right now they are a heavy under-dog vs Dubs. With LOve I'd say they would be favourites. Even if they pull if off this season why would they wilfully let Love go and make their team worse when he could almost guarantee them a 3-4yr dynasty? Its is pretty well known Dan G doesnt care for the tax and will pay it to keep a winning team not to talk of a potential dynasty

I still don't think Love makes the Cavs the favorites in this series. A healthy K Love and a healthy Verajo maybe pushes the needle, but still don't see how the Cavs can be favored.

Can anyone get a specific quote where Marc Gasol and LMA say they are staying with their teams this yr? Not all. Because those guys are weighing their options.

Players never definitively say they are staying if they wont. Its always dodging the question with things like 'Am not thinking about that now' or ' I am focused on the playoffs now'

Klove has been saying all season he is staying at Cavs. He could have easily just said 'Hey am not thinking about FA now. All I want to do is get healthy'!! AT worst he is going to opt in and look for the money next yr. Like I said he wants to win and he is currently in the best situation to do that. After losing his whole career he is not about to throw away a possible 3-4yr dynasty

He will give the Cavs 1 more yr to see if he can be integrated better into the team and see where he is at. Now their core is pretty much set, I am sure Blatt will have all the sets with better use for Love by training camp. All this recycled media speculation is just the same old drama for clicks.

I know Marc Gasol recently said he would look at his options, but that was after this season ended. I seriously don't know what people expect him to say in this situation. A few days before his team plays in the finals he really only has no choice but to say this regardless of what he is thinking. Even if he says "no comment" or "i will look at my options" that becomes a huge distraction for his team right before the finals. Only an extremely selfish player that did not care at all what his teammates would think would say that. Have you guys not followed politics frequently? This is really the only political answer he could make here....

What else was he supposed to say
He still has to be in the same locker room as the queen and his peasants through the finals. I still think he is going to look around.
I would have hoped to hear "I'll have to look into my options this summer"

He can't say that until the finals are over.  Otherwise it distracts from his team trying to win a championship and he would get crushed by his teammates and the media.  Can you imagine the Cavs winning game one and Lebron getting asked about Love looking into his options this summer?

yes I don't understand in what world people expect a player to discuss leaving the team right before they play in the finals. He would have to really really really hate his teammates and the team to do that. I am glad some people at least get that this means nothing. It definitely is very possible he stays there, probably even the favorite. This comment itself has no bearing on it and means nothing. he really doesn't have any choice what to say there if he is a reasonable person.

KLove hadnt spoken to media since his injury till now. He could have very easily continued to avoid the media till after the Finals. He isnt under any obligations to speak to the media given he is on the DNP list due to injury. Yet he called conference to address the media!!In that same address he went on to say he was staying with the Cavs!!! So not only did he go out of his way to speak to the media, he also definitively says he is staying at the Cavs. The same thing he has been saying all season long. Def sounds like someone who is trying to go to another team eh? ::)

And again saying "I am not thinking about FA now" would not be a distraction to the team. I pretty sure all the players care about now is winning a title and are focused on that. The media has been screamingat the of their lungs how Love is going to leave all PO. IF that didnt distract the players, why would Kloves comments? All players know and understand this is a business and its Klove's decision. Most of these dudes are also trying to get their contract money this offseason(Jr, Shump, TT, Delly) so why would what Love says matter one iota to them

In the 24 hour news cycle with no games for a week, and with national prominent writers like Lowe and Windhorst saying they thought he might leave, it was already become a distraction and story (as much as you want to stick your fingers in your ears and pound your feet and ignore all that). Coming forward, and saying he expects to be there next season is what any reasonable good teammate would say in this situation to kind of pump the breaks on the thing becoming the lead story for the next 3 or 4 days since there is nothing else to talk about it. It doesn't mean anything one way or the other. Maybe his statements earlier in the season do carry more water because there was less at stake, but right now there is nothing else he could really do.

Why not? They blew out Golden State when both teams were fully healthy in the RS. Cavs would have the best player in the series and Love's floor spacing would pull Green out of the Paint allowing Kyrie and Lebron Cart-Blanche to attack the rim. Lebron would have to constantly be guarded by Barnes and Iggy who have zero chance of guarding him. They would also been easily be able to score with the Warriors aswell. Without Love they will have to rely on hard-nosed defense to beat the Dubs. Will be a tall task over 7 games

Sans winning 67 games (beat up all other teams), all the evidence points to Cavs being a terrible match up for the Warriors

Except he has come forward tons of times to say he was staying. That didnt stop the media from speculating their BS. Why would he think now would be diff. Hell I just read about radio host calling him a liar. I guess his word has less credibility than 3rd party opinions.

Again media have been speculating about him leaving since the start of the yr. Yet that hasnt affected the teams performances one iota. IF thats the case why didnt he come out earlier after his injury. During the ECSF or ECF? Everyone was predicting Cavs would lose both the Bulls and Hawks series! Media has been speculating the same BS during that time. Yet Love said nothing then. Only happens to say something now they in the Finals. Sorry but the point about coming and saying it is what a good team mate would do makes no sense.

I ask this and am completely serious, do you have like a 10,000 dollar bet (or some other amount) on him playing for the Cavs Next season or something? Or is there some way you are personally invested in this situation? You are on a celtics forum, when you have said you are not a celtics fan, and have 9 posts saying the same thing, and have posted a lot in other threads whenever someone mentions Love.  You time and time again have said he will be back in the Cavs, is a good fit etc. It doesn't make any sense. (You have also said you are not a Cavs fan, which would at least make your posts more understandable). I just don't understand the level of posting and arguing you are doing for something you are not personally invested in. This is the only board I post on across any sport, and probably spend too much time on it as it is.

For me, I am a celtics fan and think it would be really cool if we got a star talent like him. I personally do not think it is going to happen. I also think there is about a 50% chance he plays for the Cavs next year with other teams (Lakers, Memphis, Portland etc) seeming like reasonable choices depending on what happens with free agency.

Like I said before I have zero problems with Cs fans wanting Love. I never comment when anyone says thins like "I want Love he will be great for our team!" "We need talent". "Screw Cleveland he needs to come to Cs" e.t.c!

All that is perfectly understandable and well within their rights. My issue has been the constant logic behind Klove leaving the Cavs. So many ppl have twisted logic to make it seem like: Cavs is not a good for Loves career, Cavs have gone out of their way to marginalize Love and hence make him want to leave, Love hates Cavs and is dying to leave, Klove is more concerned about putting up stats than winning, Lebron has been feuding with Love all season Or Cavs dont even need Love hence will let him walk! e.t.c All those points have zero substantiated facts or basis to them hence why I comment about them. Its pretty simple. Not sure why that would make me a Cavs fan.

Hell I never started commenting on here to I saw all the ridiculousness about Love. I just never seen ppl just go completely against common logic like they been doing all year with the Love situation.

Only an extremely selfish player that did not care at all what his teammates would think would say that. Have you guys not followed politics frequently? This is really the only political answer he could make here....

A few things, if you have never seen people go against common logic like this, please please please stay from any comment section on any article on any site on any topic. You will have your mind blown.

Secondly, if you feel compelled to comment every time you see something ridiculous, you must be extremely busy. How many boards are you posting on and for how many teams? I am sure if you go to the Bulls board you can find someone saying they shouldn't max a jimmy Butler trade or that they should trade rose and noah for dante exum. I am sure if you go to an eagles board you can find people saying they should start Tebow. If you go to any NFL board you can find people saying they should ban brady for life for inflating balls. You haven't really answered my question (reasonably) of why you would be so personally invested on a forum on a particular topic tied to two teams you don't care about. At this point it is really bizarre and strange to me.

I still believe that Love and LeBron had a "man to man" talk before the trade during which Love promised LeBron he would stay for 2 seasons if LeBron stayed for 2 seasons.  If I remember the timeline, Minni said include Wiggins or no deal, Cle said no Wiggins, LeBron and Love had some kind of meeting, deal got done with Wiggins (all based on various rumors that I remember reading). A lot can happen of course (like Love sustaining a serious injury) but I am not at all surprised to hear Love say he plans to opt in for the final year.

Kevin Love joining the Cleveland Cavaliers seemed like a foregone conclusion. He had already spoken to LeBron James, and the Cavs reportedly decided they were willing to part with coveted No. 1 pick and swingman Andrew Wiggins if it meant teaming the game’s best all-around player with arguably its best power forward.
