I Can't find the page anymore but I did look through Orlando blogs about keeping/moving on from harris and one poll had it split 50/50.

Another poster suggested S+T Harris for Sully or Olynyk, Wallace, plus one of our 2016 1st (Our 1st I believe). Couple replies were on board even with Wallace.

My friend is a huge Orlando fan and he couldn't wait for the season to be over so that they could bid farewell to Harris. He can't believe Harris will be receiving a max contract and is perfectly fine letting him walk for nothing.

Take this how you will - I would still be on board bringing in Harris, but be prepared for the possibility of him not being the next Cs superstar.

Did he give specifics why he felt that way?  I would be pretty surprised if Harris doesn't become a superstar, I am absolutely sold on him but I probably haven't washed as many Orlando games as your friend.  I never imagined he would be available.

I love how he wants the ball in crunch time, can score in a variety of ways, has an incredible work ethic, doesn't need the ball in his hands a ton to be productive, and potential on defense.  I would love to see what Brad could do with him and his work ethic will be an example for the players we draft over the length of his contract.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2325036-why-tobias-harris-could-be-the-steal-of-the-2015-nba-free-agent-class  <-- This article questions whether he will ever be an All-Star, I just quoted it as it talks about his work ethic.

He really didn't give many specifics (it was between at-bats during a softball game). My guess is he is sick of watching a losing team and Harris is kind-of the face of the losing. I agree, he certainly has potential to be a go-to guy and it may be one of those situations where it is a benefit not seeing all of his games. Since fans of the Magic have seen so much losing, we can actually be more objective.

The GM of Orlando says he intends to bring him back at any cost, thus rendering this a dead issue (unless he's bluffing)

When they use the word intend it usually means that it is not a certainty, if it was a certainty it would be "Magic GM says he will bring Harris back at any cost."  This has been my observation in my 30+ years following sports.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

Yeah, good find on the article, but it is more than two months old and the author sounds super-skeptical, especially since the Magic had the opportunity to extend him before the season and declined.

I mean Harris certainly has all-star potential and the Magic may re-sign him, but it is hardly a certainty at this point.

I think the closer it has gotten to the draft the more likely the Magic might not match his contract.  If the Magic draft Winslow they might want Gordon to get more time at the 4, if they draft Porzingis they might want Gordon to get more time at the 3.  The draft will tell a lot about the free agency.  Ideally I would like the Knicks to draft a low post scorer and the Magic to draft someone who can play the 3/4.  That would open up Harris and Monroe for us.

The new reports are making it seem like it is between Detroit and Boston for Harris at the max, I would be all over that, I am shocked that Orlando is letting him go but wit Gordon and Hezonja I can kind of see why.  Their loss could be our gain, I am still advocating for signing Harris and Monroe to the max.
