Let's face it, even the Chief was able to put in over 9 mpg at the age of 43 for the Bulls.

If the Chief could do that near his mid-40s, then Pierce can easily do 5 mpg, until he can't run anymore.

So that's it, once the next season is over with the Wizards, Pierce should rejoin the C's at Vet's minimum and keep playing for the rest of his natural life. When the rebuilding is over, he'll be winning more championships but with everyone else around him, hoisting much of the responsibilities. His job will be to come off the bench, knock down a couple of shots, like MacAdoo did for the Lakers, and go back to rest. I believe that even Hakeem can do that today, despite being in his 50s.

Pierce is still a better scorer than everyone on the Celtics right now.  He's aging like Reggie Miller.  He should have another couple years in him of quality ball.

But that's not the issue. Even 15 mins per game, circa 40 and above, is not a smart thing to do.

As a person approaches the big 40, the wellness emphasis needs to change to yoga, pilates, and those sorts of soft style arts like Tai Chi.

And thus, while it's still possible to play in the NBA, it's prudent to play as few minutes as possible. And then, Pierce can play till 50, w/o a problem.

hmmm...i am impressed by the paul-love here and understand it. but the thought of having an 83 year old paul pierce running his wheelchair up and down the court for 5 minutes does not sound that attractive to me.

maybe redo the thread title and put a cap of 55 on this invitation to paul?  ;D

Forget waiting another season. Sign him back here the moment free agency begins.

And don't forget your parent's TV legend, Jack LaLanne ...

That's him towing 70 boats on his 70th birthday.

So if the C's continue with their present ownership and management style, I'm pretty sure that the team will be contenders for perhaps, a third of the next 3-4 decades. If so, then it's possible for Paul "the Jack LaLanne of the NBA" Pierce to have more rings than Russell  ;D

It's the 2052 NBA finals. We've got the Celts and Lakers back in again.

Leading the Celts is Reggie Pierce and cheering him on from the bench is his grandfather, Paul Pierce, who's currently the oldest player in the NBA.

If the Celts can pull this off, then Paul will retire with 13 titles, the most for any player in history.

I hope that the Celtics offer Pierce a "huge" role in the organization once he decides to retire from the game. Will indeed be the saddest day in the history to see the great Paul Pierce walk from the game :'(

Yeah but Paul would have to pass PED tests  ;)

I hope Paul comes here next year but it seems very unlikely.  Being a part of the organization post-retirement is more likely and seems like a great fit.
