Now i understand a lot of you are invested in Marcus Smart, who's ceiling (basically) happens to be Lowry. I get that, but if trading for Lowry meant big name free agents take us seriously this summer, would you do it?

I think Smart and some draft picks get it done if they seriously want to blow it up because they don't want to get stuck in mediocrity. Lowry has been in the league for awhile, so he would make no sense in a rebuild. We have the assets, isn't this a no brainer, especially if we want to talk to guys like Aldridge and Wesley Matthews this summer?

Some of you are really invested in the youth movement and get attached to these kids, but i think Danny would flip them in a second to contend ASAP again, even if the window was only 3-5 years or so again. Danny ain't Presti and we won't be in the top 5 lottery again anytime soon, why not try to flip this thing quick. Anyone else down on making a push for Lowry and than going for free agents?

I like Lowry but he is like 30 and has already been battling injuries. Trading Smart AND Draft picks for him would make no sense.

Lowry is 29 and has played 68/79/70 games over the last 3 seasons. He also makes 12mil and would fit in the Rondo TPE. Think he could be a nice fit for the C´s. However I think the Raptors will ask for a lot in return and I am not sure there is a deal that would suit both partys

Lowry has choked twice in the playoff series against Paul Pierce.

This year was no exception, and now I absolutely do not want him at all anywhere near this team. I want a winner and a fighter. Smart will eclipse Lowry in a few years, and I'm more concerned about how the Raptors are going to end up if they indeed do have a fire sale.

Lowry and Smart together in the same backcourt would be a fun combination.

I don't think Danny flips Smart in a second.  Most everyone else, yes, but I think both the front office and coaching staff was very pleased with what they got from him in his first year.  Is he untradrable? No, of course not.  But he will not be traded on a whim for Kyle Lowry, or most players.  It's been clear since before the draft last year that Ainge loved Smart, and Stevens has been very positive about him all year long.  Ainge wants to make a splash, but he's not going to be stupid about it.

I feel confident in saying I think Smart's actual ceiling is higher than Lowry, but I wouldn't really be upset if he peaked at Lowry's level, as long as it wasn't as late as Lowry peaked.

I've suggested this in the past and yes I would do so.

Lowry would be an upgrade at the PG as we really don't have a true PG right now.

Smart is still learning and IT is a back-up.

I don't know enough about Lowry to have an opinion here, but I like the general line of thinking: Make trades if it means you can contend. Any deal where we look at it and say, this would give us 4 years with a real shot at a title, we have to make that deal. Also, as shown in this post, we are not limited to just FAs. 1 trade, 1 big time FA and 1 rookie and we keep most of the team from last year intact and look good next year.
